chest pain after pacemaker implantation

Selene, chest pain is never normal and needs to be assessed as quickly as possible.  Feeling you have a heavy weight in the centre of your chest is not a good sign, or a sign that all is well.

I would rather err on the side of caution and go through your Emergency Department for some checks, just to be sure.  

Perhaps this is all part of normal healing for you but you need to be assessed by a doctor.  We cannot give you reassurance here.   I know I had some chest discomfort immediately following implant, but to describe a pressure type of pain in the centre of your chest rings a few alarm bells for me.   Take care Selene and please update us whenever you can

As Gemita said, you cannot be too careful; so it would be wise to get it checked-out. Generally speaking, pacemakers do not cause chest pain. Could just be anxiety, but there is no way to know for sure unless you get it checked-out.

I'm thinking anxiety which can feel like weight but agree to get checked. Do you have a home monitor which would be checking you nightly?

Better to be seen and told it's anxiety than ignore something going on. Good luck. 

Get checked out

18 days after my device was implanted I had chest pain which hurt even more if I tried to take a deep breath.  An echo revealed I had fluid around the heart which can occur after the surgery.  

My cardiologist gave me water pills for 5 days or so to try and rid the water and it did!

Seek advice and don't let it go too long or else hospitalization may be necessary.
