Hi Friends,
I was wondering if any of you had any experience with your incision being closed by staples.
I had my 3rd pm implant on 12/27. The same incision was used.
I have 8 staples. These staples are due to be removed this Tuesday.
This morning I noticed some very red areas around the staples.
My incision looks good minus the irritated red areas around the staples.
I 'm thinking that these areas are irritated due to clothing touching them, movement and pulling of the staples.
Has anyone had any experience with staples? Since my incision is closed and looks good I put a small amount of antibotic cream on the red areas today after my shower.
Any thoughts?

Staples

Hi Searchingwoman, Carol here. I did not have staples, but I am a nurse and have seen my share through the years. The staples act like a foreign body in the skin and sometimes become red and inflamed because of this and the tension they create in the skin. Just keep an eye on them and continue to dab a small amt of triple antibiotic ointment on them as you are doing. Since the rest of your incision looks good and because your staples are due to come out on Tuesday anyway, I think all will be fine. Of course, it goes without saying, that should the remainder of your incision become red, inflamed, hot, or start to ooze call your doctor before Tuesday.
Hope this helps, Carol

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
