Hey there, I am new to the group. I got my pacemaker a couple of years ago. I recently starting having weird heart beats when I lay on my left side. It is inconvient because my baby monitor (video) is on that side. So I have to lay flat and turn my head. Has any one experienced this?
Thanks :)

Laying on Left Side

I have had this problem since my implant three years ago. It feels like the beating heart is hitting my left rib. I also have more problems with A Fib when I'm on my left side. Sometimes when I change position just slightly it settles down. I know it can be very frustrating if that is your preferred side. My doctor doesn't have patience for this complaint he just tells me to either turn over or learn to live with it. (nice guy) I have traded sides of the bed to sleep on. Maybe you could try that and move your baby monitor with you. Hope it helps.

Laying on Left Side

It's nice to know I am not alone in this problem. Sometimes it really bothers me and sometimes I don't have a problem. I thought maybe I was losing my mind. Yes, when I turn over or lay on my back it does go away. I am also coming up on my third anniversary of implant.

I have the same problem sometimes. My friend who does not have heart issues or a PM also can feel her heart at times while laying on her left side. Not any help to you except to know that you aren't the only one.

is it the baby monitor?

I'm wondering if there's anything involved with the baby monitor that's interfering with the pacemaker? Just a thought! I know when I use my hairdryer, especially on my left side, I get some definite arrhythmias!

My pacemaker has ultimately saved mine and my unborn childs life for which I am thankful.

Since I received my PM June 20,2007 I can't lay on my left side for the same reason. I sleep on my back and do the same turn my head. I had a partial pericardical sac removal in Nov. 28.2006. I figured it was because I am very aware of my heart beat. Drives me nuts. I can't help but I feel for you. The Dr. says I just am probably more aware of it and it might get better. Good Luck!
God bless you,
