answer to john keats Running and fitness

Hi all,I actually wanted to answer directto a message posted by johnkeats, but every time i go into the message from him,I get logged out and cant reply.Does anyone have tips on how to work around this bug?

Anyway,,john ...your doctor will give you the best specific advice for your particular condition.but in my experience(PM inseted for long sinus pauses MAR 07)I wouldn't worry about running for the first two weeks.Give the wound time to heal and let the pacemaker set in physically and then proceed gradually in combination with doctors advice.
Also in the firast 2 weeks the PM setting are conservative and it(the PM) may not know how YOUR heart works yet,but with time it learns stuff and gives therapy accordingly.
So my advice is just take it nice and easy and dont fight it.I am not sure if your condition limits you max HR/I am lucky and I can go to 200bpm.

For me it was a rollercoaster from initially thinkingthat i could never run again-to being back to normal and trying to get back to my past fitness levels ASAP to prove to myself that eveything was the same as before the P.M.

Also Gevans is one particularly insping member who has done some amazing athletic feats and continues to do so.

Also thanks to all advice that others have given about swimming-update is that I completed a 1500m swim 40k bike 10k run and felt great after .2:43 ,43,1:13,42 if that means anything to anyone.

Anyway,,john, all the best feel free to message me if you would like more info about getting back into it(fitness)

cheers
Pete

Hey, it was great to get a response, thanks Pete. Yes your time did make sense. I hope to get back to running sub1.15 for half marathons. I seem to have lots to learn about how the pacemaker works. Where do I get the real detail that I am after?
Thanks
John
