Hi Everyone Allan (41) Edinburgh
Well One week has passed and I must admit each day i feel a little stronger.I am able to sleep partially on my right side but not for long.I am no longer sleeping in affternoons and my wound is very tidy but still a little tender but no more pain killers.
I must admit i am glad my pacemaker sight is still sore as it reminds me not to carry anything heavy with my left arm which is incredibly hard to do.
I have a twin chamber pacemaker with af suppressor cable which i am told that they wont switch on until my first one month check up.
the night before my pacemaker was fitted i had a very scary episode of tacacardia where my heart raced up to a very fast uncontrolable speed no chest pain but i thought i was dying. i am worried that might happen again so i guess i want my af suppressor switched on just in case, also to be given some beta blockers just in case.
I am feeling the good of the pace maker in the sense i am for the first time in years able to sleep for a solid period of time i am aware of it sometimes tickling into action just before i go to sleep . I am like most people to scared to say this has cured me hooray! as it is too soon and i dont want to jinks it, but it certainly seems to have improved my situation.
It is hard to stop, step back, and take it easy but that is just what i am going to do i had a trip planned for london this weekend and three meetings but you know what my recovery is more important so i am going to cancel them and take it easy.
Life is totally different now i am really glad i have you guys to talk to and i hope when i am completely on the otherside of this i can give back some of the comfort you have all offered me
Kind Regards
Allan

Hi Allan
Shelly (36) UK and still 'pre-PM' myself.
Glad to hear you're ok after the surgery and starting to feel some benefit already. You must feel relieved that part is now over.
You voiced some of the same 'surgery fears' as I felt in your previous post, so hope you don't mind me asking - how did you find your experience of the procedure? Was it as 'minor' as the docs make it out to be? (I hope so!!!)
Now you're starting the recovery process, how are you finding the aftercare - have you been given lots of info by the docs? Only asking since I've been given no info whatsoever so far, and was wondering if they give you an influx right before surgery.
Anyway, good to hear you're doing ok and taking it easy. Thanks for posting details of your recovery, it's certainly reassuring to me (and I guess anyone else reading who's also pre PM) to hear an honest account.
Cheers - take care,
Shelly

I'm glad things appear to be going well. Please take it easy and let the healing take it's own time and course. It can take months to really feel ok. At least for me it did. Stay in touch and let us know how you progress.

Allan,
It is good to hear from you. Glad to know PM surgery is over and going well. Yes, when you lift something it sure will remind you! You are smart in taking it easy as you can cause more problems down the road. I suprised you can sleep on your side at all. I am just at the 4 month and still no side sleeping. But at least I am sleeping. Remember everyones recovery time seems to be different! I don't consider my PM a cure more like " the buddy system" ! Keep in touch.
God bless you,
