I had my pacemaker inserted in october of 2007. Recently I've noticed that it seems to have moved toward the outside of my chest and rotated upwards. Is it normal for this to happen? I haven't done anything recently to cause this to happen and there is no pain, only a little soreness where it moved to. I also have noticed that when i lay on my side it causes pain I was wondering if this was normal also. I would appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Margaret

Migration...

I know several folks have discussed the problems on this site with pacemaker migration. It apparently can cause some real discomfort, and often times the doctors don't want to "mess with it". But if it becomes a real problem I suggest you insist on having it repositioned. I don't think that is such a big deal as long as your leads are still intact. You might try the search function at the top and key in things like pacemaker movement or migration, etc.
Good luck!

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
Pacemaker moving

Hi Margaret.
I would simply ask your family doctor or cardiologist for an Xray and then they could compare it to the Xray you had when you first got your pacemaker.
Hope this helps.
