Just wanted to say to those I sometimes chat with that I haven't been around much because our dog has been very sick. I know that in light of health issues many people and their human family members have this may seem small, but we've had him for almost 8 years and this has been quite stressful for our family.

So sorry to hear your best friend is sick. We have a cocker spaniel, rescued. Like all the dogs we have had she is part of my precious world. The peace I feel when I give her a hug and her loyalty - she is always by my side - is so wonderful. I get so stressed when my dog gets sick. They look so miserable and can't say what is wrong but they know how much you care. Hope your furry one is soon better. Sincere wishes

Do not apologize for discussing the illness of your dog. There are many of us on here who have furbabies! Last year in March our 10 year old mini-poodle died suddenly and almost immediately I came to this club to post my loss, knowing other dog-lover friends were here. They had known my Charlie had a heart condition and was on medications. The outpouring of sympathy from these caring people was unbelievable. These are truly my friends and we all care about each other and it goes far beyond our devices. We adopted another dog within a month's time and he is the "sunshine" in our lives. I will pray for your baby and your family. What kind of medical problems does he have? What breed?

Vonnie,
I've been missing you and am glad to have an update. Your family & dog will be in my prayers. In my lowest moments my Scottie has been the highlight of my days & provided reasons for rolling out of bed. Our pets fill a part of our lives that no other human can. No need to apologize for anything.

Dogs are family!

I can feel your pain and stress. I have a pug who as a puppy almost died due to dyhydration...he refused to eat and drink and he was throwing up... Finally with a number of tests we found out that he has colitis. Seeing him so sick made me cry all the time, he is really like my son. I have no children so he is my kid...in fact my parents are called his grandparents...and he knows them by grandma and grandpa. When i faint and injure myself all I have to do is look in my dogs' cute pug eyes and he gets me to smile each time. He is like my stress reliever , and I don't know what i would do without him.
Anyway, I truly hope you dog gets better and gets the treatment he needs. Please keep us updated on his health.
My prayers go out to your dog and your family during this tough time,
Christine
Your poor baby!

Whoever said kids only had to have two legs?! Like all the above posters, dogs are family. I love how auntiesamm calls them 'furbabies"--I'm stealing that one! Like bini, I don't have any children and my 3 goldens and black lab are my kids. There is nothing like the love of a dog. I will definitely say a little prayer for your baby. What kind of dog and what's his/her name?

I love this little prayer: "Dear Lord, please help me to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am." Amen!

Hi Vonnie,
I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Yes, like many have said, they are family. Their unconditional love and faithfulness creates a strong bond with their humans. Did you ever have any dogs that didn't give their all in trying to please you? I haven't. It seems that the longer they stay with us, the stronger the bond. Our end is a 9 to 12 year commitment to a "3 year old child".We certainly can learn a lot from them. And, when they die, we grieve - seems quite appropriate. I do hope that things will go OK for your dog.
You are in our thoughts, Vonnie.
Peace,
Richan

In addition to my furbaby I have granddogs and grandcats. They are all very special! Aren't we silly about our pets? I can't imagine life without them!
