Hello All. I had my Dual Chamber Pacemaker put in August 20,2007. it.s a St. Jude model and I will be asking you all some questions, and thanking god for you all. It,s so new to me and I have lots of questions, that i want from people like me that have been through it. First one is do you still get some of the symptoms (small ones) like a little light head, some dizzyness, only minimal, but is it normal, do you get them? Thanks and God Bless Us All msphil

I've had mine 4 days longer than you, so I'm pretty new too. This is a good place to learn most of the things the docs don't bother to tell us.
I still get dizzy

I have had my PM since September. I still have some dizzyness and light headedness but I am not fainting anymore.
I think I am just hyper sensitive to it now because of past experiences. Always looking for a soft place to land in case I pass out. :-)
The dizzyness is not an everyday occurence but it does still happen. It's just more like a slight dizzyness. At least to me, anyway.
When you first get a PM I have discovered that you get information overload. I can only process a little at a time so this place is great to learn! I forgot alot of what the doctor told me in the beginning. It could have also been the pain killers. :-)

my son had a guidant pacemaker fitted in april this year. a couple of months ago he felt dizzy again. i took him straight to the clinic and was told he could still have the symptoms but he won't pass out. they tweaked it a little and he has been fine since. he has been great. he is taking it in his stride and won't let it hold him back. he is full time at uni, he has become a black belt in aikido and still parties at the weekends. i worry myself sick but he is doing what 18yr olds do. i think it must take a while to relax and trust the pacemaker. I met a woman in her eighties the other day and she had her's for a very long time.
good luck

Hidden Symptoms

Hi, Newbie!!
Welcome .. I'm fairly new to the site, had my St. Jude dual-lead PM first inserted 7/10/07. It was traumatic for me, mentally.
I wanted to alert you to other possible factors. I found out about my poor sinus rhythm by accident. I was admitted to the hospital for a blood transfusion (I'm anemic) and they discovered my dangerously low heart rate while I was sleeping (in the 20's).
All of that was shared to simply say you may have other issues going on with your body that may not necessarily be made "all better" by a PM. Make sure you stay on top of your bloodwork and have more than just a CBC ran ... have them specifically check your iron and possibly check the adrenal glands for abnormal levels. With your being a cancer survivor, I'm sure their on top of all that stuff!!
Good luck to you and don't hesitate to ask as many questions as you like! We are all here to help each other. I'm so glad I found this site!!! It's been great, though I've had trouble finding people my age with PM's!!
Happy T-day!!! Go Packers!!!!

Welcome to the group and you will learn a lot of good information here. Just keep reading and checking in to see the postings.
I also have a St. Jude PM and am on my 2nd one which was put in last Wed. I have some symptoms of lightheadness, dizzy, etc. also minimal. I think it is just part of my condition and I try not to stress about it.
I am just so thankful to God that we have such things as PMs to help our heart. If I did not have my PM, I would most likely be an invalid or worse.
Keep posting and welcome!!
Take care,
NH
