hi michele susan here i was hoping you can write me and tell me what they didi for you in physical therpy so i can try to do it at home since i dont have insurence right now,so i can try to get some relief ,also i am very greatful for all the help and support i have gotten on this site .thanks alot ,waiting to hear from you,and god bless everyone for being so understanding when it felt like i was all alone.

Is it a frozen shoulder? They are so painful. You have my sympathy if so.
The first thing the doctor did for mine was give me an anti inflammatory. "Frozen shoulder" is is really an inflammation of the shoulder capsule. For some reason, it will secrete a sticky and very irritating substance. The reason it "freezes" is because it is so very painful to move, you don't want to move it at all. The secretions harden and the shoulder then freezes in place.
That said, if you can take an over the counter anti inflammatory like ibuprofen, that will help. Exercise is the most important thing, followed by ice. The ice helped me SO much. I was in love with my ice pack.
I would start exercising with just swinging the affected arm. Bend at the waist and let your arm be dependent at the shoulder. Then slowly move it back and forth. The object is to loosen up the capsule that the sticky stuff has frozen. Eventually you need to be able to swing it in a large circle.
Crawling the wall is a very good one. Stand in a doorway and crawl up the wall with the affected arm until you have it directly over your head. The whole idea of all the exercises they had me doing was to loosen the joint.
Another was to take a weight ( a large can of something will do) and put it up on a top shelf and then reach and take it off. They made me do that one over and over again. DON'T do that one if it's the same side as your pacemaker and you are newly post surgical.
If you go online and "google" frozen shoulder exercises I think you will find a bunch that really help. The exercise actually reduces the pain in the shoulder. Be sure to ice after each time you exercise. The whole idea is to reduce the inflammation and free the joint. That makes the pain go away.
