Normal Heart Rate

Just curious... is 94 a good heart rate for during the day or should it be a little lower? I am thinking I should have the adjust it down a little. Any advice?

Heart Rate

Everything I see on normal heart rates is that the "normal" range is 70 to 100. If you think yours is too high and especially if this rate started after you got a pacemaker, you shoud talk to your doctor.

what smitty says makes sense and if you feel okay then you probably are okay. how are you sleeping? at any rate you can check with your doctor. maureen

Sleep well

I sleep well, but at work sometimes it just seems like my heart rate is too high, meaning 94. Not sure if my body is still getting used to it being so high. LOL

May be right for you

Mine is usually around 60 when I am sitting and reading or sleeping. I had mine set for a low of 55 because I have been a runner for years and I always had the lower rate. Trouble was my rate was dropping down to 25 to 35 while I slept. 94 may be perfect for you though and exactly what you need. If your heart was beating too slow before you were implanted, perhaps your doctor wants you in a higher range for a while until he can fully evaluate you. Based on the information stored on your unit, they may leave it the same, or adjust you up or down. Keep track of how you feel and note days when you seem to be having problems. They can look up this info and adjust accordingly. Rick

Normal and just right

Many wise words shared in the responses. Just to add 2 comments:
- while the normal range is between 55 to 100, a setting at 94 does appear to be on the high side. PM factory setting (set for a normal distribution of patients with PM) is 60. Unless you are comfortable with a setting at >90, I suggest you follow-up on your thinking about reducing it a bit.
- the low setting also depends on age group and life style. For me being age 50+ and a "office worker or desk job" life style, a setting of 60 was most comfortable for me.

Best of luck in getting it tuned perfectly for you.
