Im kinda worried! Im going to call the doc. I just wanted to see if you guys had any problem with pressure after you got your pm. I know 148 isnt really really bad but it super high for me! hehe Well thanks!!

Rach, The exact same thing happened to me. My BP was always perfect. After the PM I went borderline high. My Doc. put me on atenolol 25 to reduce it. I tried 50 but felt like a zombie. No problems with the 25's and they are working. Blessed is right I was told the same thing the heart not pumping like it was supposed to gave low BP now I am getting the more true measurement. It could be a numer of factors affecting your blood pressure. When did you have your PM placed? If recently(last few days) then most likely you had an IV with fluids running and that will usually make your BP go up. Another reason is that your heart is now pumping more blood through it so your usually lower blood pressure could have been misleading~now that your heart is pumping "normal"volumes of blood what you could be seeing is your true BP..another cause could be if you are anxious when you are getting your BP checked-such as if you had one higher reading maybe you are more anxious when getting it checked now which in turn makes the reading higher. You could be eating more salty things..etc..etc there are so many reasons. Don't worry to much about it unless it continues to keep going higher..you are right 148 sys isn't really high but it is also a place you don't want your BP to continue to run for months/years..I hope this helps a little. I went through a time when I was a little obsessed about my BP and if it was just a little high I would panic but after I realized that I was making it worse by reacting that way I made myself stop taking my BP for awile and tried to enjoy life and to no surprise it came down. Of course you also dom't want to ignore your BP and health either and sometimes it's hard to find that balance. Always check with your doctor if something is really bothering you-even if for just piece of mind!! Good luck with everything!!
