Hi Sarah,

The answer depends on what you want to do in the RAF. If you want to fly then im afraid it's a no. Some of the auxillary positions may be available, but you should check with the careers service. Call this number and speak to one of the advisors: 0845 605 5555. They will be able to help with questions regarding medical restictions.

Oh to be young again. I think the RAF would turn thier noses up at me. I have had great fun applying for jobs and being rejected because of a heart condition and employers liability. As soon as I twig that they dont want me at the interview because of "health problems" I start having a bit of fun winding them up as I have nothing to loose. I think the RAF would take you as its a government organisation and unlike the private sector they are not allowed to discriminate. I am sure that the could accomodate you but it would not be in a job that they might feel would put others at risk. If it were me and I was you, I would apply to be a nurse in the RAF, that way you will always have friends looking after you and you will be able to get a job any place on planet earth when you leave. Good luck with your application. Let us know how you get on. Cheers Peter

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
