Hi,
I'm 2 1/4 years past the surgery to implant my PM.
I have noticed lately from time to time that I have a
sensation at the PM site. I can't quite describe it but it is just irritating; not really a pain. It seems to be inside of my skin at the PM.
I did notice this time that it was after I did some yardwork.
Of course, using the rake caused those muscles near the PM to move quite a bit.
I'm wondering if the PM might be slipping back and forth in its pocket causing the irritation........Anyone have any thoughts on that? The PM, over the years, has moved inward toward my sternum about an inch.
Thanks for your input.
Margaret

Well mine slips back and forth . Its been inside me just 15 months. For the first 10 months approximately I also had that itchy irritating feeling under the skin but it has now subsided and I dont know why. Cheers Peter

Dear Frank and Peter,
Thanks for your comments. It is now two days past the yard work and the itchy irritating feeling is about gone.
When I feel it again and I'm sure I will, I will try to remember what I might have done to make it that way.
Since the implant, I can tell it has slid inward toward my sternum and yes, it is just under the skin.
Thanks again. This is a wonderful site!

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.
Right idea

Hi,
I suspect you have the right idea about exercise moving the PM around and irritating the local area. If the pacemaker is located just under your clavicle it can ride up over it with some kinds of movement. At lot depends on how it is positioned. If I do activity where I reach across to the right with my left arm the pacer can get pinched between my arm and clavicle. It rarely is a problem, but I just tried it and I can feel a dull ache afterwards.
