LEAD OFF
by BOB 1 - 2008-01-24 07:01:50
I think Smitty has left the building. At least he said he was leaving the last time I saw him.
Smitty is my neighbor - lives about 2 blocks from me and is the one that got me started here
But as for an answer, I would say that if your heart depends on that lead for getting an impulse to make it beat, you would know pretty quick if the lead is off your pacemaker or broken.
Always, when in doubt, see a doctor.

That is one of the things that mine will beep for, is if it detects a broken lead. I do have a three wire unit
You know you're wired when...
You have a high-tech ticker.

I have a single lead to the ventricle because of my AV node ablation. My cardiologist hesitated about a pm because of my six days a week of swimming. The concern was the wear and tear of the lead. I was told that if I pulled the lead, I would be basically without a heart. I wouldn't feel a thing. I now swim four days a week :)
My EP said it is o.k. to swim so I will just enjoy!
Don't know what the answer would be with more then one leads. Smitty could probably answer that one. O.K, Smitty, it is all yours! aldeer
