Hi my son Devin was shocked 8 times in 20mins in June 07. He has ventricular tachycardia and his heart rate goes over 300bpm. We have been going to the Mayo Clinic in MN where the doctors feel they have fixed his tachycardia. He has alot of aniexty and everyday things can be very difficult. He still has his ICD and lives with fear everyday. Just wanted to share our good news with you.... one year with no shocks.... thanks to the good doctors at the mayo... all other hospitals did not give us alot of hope.... mom

Great News

Praise God that little D is doing well and has been free of "therapy" for a year. It is great and hopefully he will never have to recieve therapy again.
I know this is hard for a mom to do, but I tell my mother the same thing so I will tell you in case you happen to do this as well. Try not to remind him of how long it has been since the last shock. I had put it off in the back of my mind at one point (sometimes its possible) and my mom said "Hey its been 2 months since your last shock, thats the longest you've gone!" with a smile. I know she meant well, but it gets the wheels turning " so does this mean I'm due for a shock soon?"
Anyway, time is a true blessing and I pray for Devin when I think of him. Tell him hi for me, and to do well in music.

God Bless,

Ryan

How wonderful that it seems to be under control! I hope that this milestone helps his anxiety.

i have been shocked and i know how about anxiety. i get anxiety all the time but i have learned not to panic so much anymore. i try to talk to myself to calm down but sometimes i do need a zanox. but it does take time to feel better.just keep telling yourself everthing is going to be ok. you are seeing doctors at the famous mayo clinic. one of the pacemaker members once said there are hospitals all over the world that can handle the icd. so go out and live your life yours truly, curly.

You know you're wired when...

You run like the bionic man.
