Wanted to introduce myself

My name is Kathryn and I am 32 years old. I had my PM installed November 2007 following the birth of my second child. During labor I went into heart failure and died. I remember hearing my child cry and that was last thing I heard. I was given atrophine to restart my heart and for a few months my heart would beat normal and then would drop in the 40s and then go back to normal. I had an EP study done and was told my only option was a PM. I never had a heart problem before this incident and the doctors do not think that pregnancy caused it but it might have taken my second pregnancy to make it surface. I do have a history of seizures that I had brain surgery to correct so I like to say that I am just one big electrical mishap!

Hi Kathryn.... welcome to a wonderful club. What a blessing your pacemaker has been for both you and your little ones. We are always here from all ages. I am 80 and have ten children. We have some great members who will come up with the answer for your questions. I was directed to the club about nine months ago and have received so much support. Welcome to the club. I wonder if you can help me. My husband suffers from epilepsy and is under review for surgery. Can you let me know name of the procedure for the operation. Thanks

I see that you had your pacemaker implanted following the birth of your second child.. So already your experience will help the person who just posted about concerns with breast feeding and having a pacemaker.

Answer to Blueaustrialia question

Hi, I had a right temporal lobotomy to remove my seizure focus. I am not sure what the exact name of the surgery is called but that is how it is listed in my medical records. I had mine done in 1991 at the age of 15 and I have not a seizure since, but I do have auras. I am not sure what type seizures your husband has but mine were complex partial and after extensive testing they found they orginiated in the right temporal lobe so they removed it.
