Medic Alert Tattoo?

Does any have a medic alert tattoo? Thought that might be cool. I go without my jewelry a lot. But, though it might be cool to get the medic alert service and have my number and symbol tattooed on the inside of my wrist or somewhere veiwable. I know first responders are trained to look for a medic alert but would they notice a tattoo? Any one have any input on that?

MedicAlet- tattoo

Oh, I was thinking that if I used the "MedicAlert" service they will issue me an account or patient number that is connected to my "up to date" information in there database. I am assuming I can change any and all information as things change like doctor or my location or device changes. Thanks for the post!

Important information.

It is a fun idea, if you are into Tattoos. However, If you have allergies to any medications, The Medic Alert foundation requests that this information be engraved onto your emblem.
You put your life in danger, if you are unable to speak for yourself, in case of an accident, and first responders must insert an IV.
Even with the phone # tattooed on your wrist, time is of the essence. There may not be enough time to look, or to call. A bracelet is much more convenient, the critical information is right there.
I have a Medic Alert bracelet on at all time, it has already served its purpose.
Take care,

I thinks that's a different idea. I just don't know if medic responders would notice it. (I keep my bracelet on all the time) If you do have it done I think having the symbol and you medic alert number (along with the 800#) would be ok. My doctors have changed but it's not on my bracelet. It also just says I have a pm, not the kind it is. That info I do change on line under my account and they can send a new card. If you do get it done also carry the card, they may look for it.

thanks for thought on tats

Thanks so much for you thoughts. I found an article that talked about first responders not really being trained to look for medic alert tattoos. So if I did decide to do it, it would be more for the purpose of expression not safety. :) I think I will get a bracelet or necklace regardless. Thanks again for your help!

Okay, I joked in the beginning about getting a tattoo right at my PM site so that it couldn't be missed, but I was only joking. I have had enough needles for quite awhile! I would say if you put it where they might start an IV in an emergency, but even with that there would be several sites to choose from. If you want a tattoo, go for it but just don't depend on it for your emergency information.
