Just want to wish you a very happy xmas and a happy new year.
I am in the U.K. and have had a pacemaker since 1987 then second one in 2005, as you can see some pm's batteries do work.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
