low battery

Hello,
I am due for a pacemaker replacement in the next 1 to 5 months. For the past week, i have been having this "heartbeat in my throat" feeling. I am wondering is anyone else feels this or is it just a sign of low battery?
I am not a pacer dependent and I need to make a decision as to whether I want a replacement or not since the doctor who doesn't' think I need it and leaves the decision to me.

On those who had a recent pacer replacement, how do you feel when your battery is low?

Thanks.

I am having the same feelings and I am 100% dependent....I go for an interrogation on Wedneday and I'll let you know the outcome.

if your PM's battery is low, some PM's may have an audible alarm which sounds like an European police siren. If this sound is heard call the Dr to schedule an interrogation of device. I and don't feel any different if battery is low or at full power. I'm 100% pace dependent.

Possibility

It is possible that you are experiencing premature ventricular contractions, not necessarily related to the PM. But since you are not PM dependent, there is a possibility that the PM is interfering with you natural rhythm to cause the premature contractions (PVCs).

PVCs or PAVs

I was at the cardio yesterday, I am having the same thing although my battery is not low. The nurse said it may by PACs or PAVs which unless they cause you distress or interfere with your lifestyle do not cause issues. You should talk to your doctor to make sure. I used to get them very seldom, but have them all the time since my open heart surgery. I guess they are one of the most common complaints cardiologists get. You can look them up on the internet. Again it is always the safest bet to check with your doctor to be sure.

Title above should be PVCs or PACs sry typo!

for me

For me, when my pacemaker battery was running low, I felt extremeley tired, but I didn't feel any pain or anything you have described, but you should contact your doctor and tell him just in case. hope this helps.

You know you're wired when...

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
