Kidney Failure

by donb - 2012-08-09 09:08:58

Hi Franko, I had kidney failure following a chemical stress test which caused a lot of problems as I wasn't able to eliminate the injected drugs efficiently. I was given the newer dialating drug Lexiscan.
I was scheduled for a heart echo test before my stress test but wasn't convenient. As it turned out I had my echo test done a week later & it showed fluid in my paracardial sack surrounding my heart. Both my liver & kidneys were starting to shut down along with blood work showing this.
Surgery was in order for a paricardial window surgery to remove lots of fluid buildup.

Things were a little shakey for a while but fortunately I recovered. I will not be taking the chemical stress test again as I have learned that I can get enough heart dialation getting my heart rate to my upper limit of 120.
I will also insist on having my heart echo done regularly before any stress test to avoid any complications. As for recovery it has taken 4 months for complete recovery since my Lexiscan chemical stress test. Note, there is a 5% patients having reactions posted by Lexiscan !!

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
