guidant vitality replacement

My husband has a guidant vitility a155 which suddenly has a depleted battery. He is due to have it replaced Jan. 7. If you hear a beeping please make sure that you get it checked. I had to argue with the clinic to get them to check his Icd thank god I did.

Wow, Im glad that you requested to have your husband checked out. Sometimes it just proves that we know there is something wrong even when they tell use everything is alright. Good Luck and Lots of Love for the Surgery.

i am a great believer in pushing the doctor.especially if you feel there is something wrong. go with your gut feeling and don't take no for an answer. good luck with the surgery jessie

Good thing he has you on his side. :) How long had he had his device and when was the last time it had been checked before it started beeping? What was the battery at then?

(I hope you don't think I'm nosy...I got my ICD a year ago (also a guidant, but a different model) and I'm curious as to what happens when it runs down. I knew about the beeping, but I'm always interested in personal experiences.)

Husband had his ICD put in Nov. 2004. It started beeping on Dec. 21, it beeped 2 more times then we went to the clinic on the 29th at which time the tech turned off the beeping. I hope that is all the tech turned off.

Husband had his replacement today he now has a Vitality 2 Dr T165. I hope this one is better than the last was. Before he went into surgery they kept saying they were going to replace his pacer generator and I told them it wasn't a pacer it was a defibrillator, they finally get it right when they got in and had to come back out to get me to sign the form to put in the ICD . So everyone out there keep an advocate in place. Doctors and nurses aren't as smart as they think they are.

You know you're wired when...

You read consumer reports before upgrading to a new model.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
