Chainsaw question

I have a couple of acres and need to saw now and then. Is a device available that would shield the saw interference or otherwise allow the use of saws and/ or brush/weed cutters?
I'm am a recent defibrillator implant owner and have many more questions. I am so glad to find you!
Thanks,b3buck

chain saw search

Use the 'search' in the upper right hand corner of the club page and search for 'chainsaw' or 'chain saw'. Also for 'welder', 'welding', 'microwave' etc.

Most of the interference questions have been asked and answered, but every once in while a new one come up like 'vibrators'.

Welcome, we are glad you have found us too! :-)

Charlie is right there is a menu you may search to find quick answers to some questions. :-)

My hubby won't give up his power garden tools for me to used and he looks so nice doing the work so I let him! he he. :-) So I personally can only say good luck with your brush work and make sure someone knows where and what you are doing.... just in case.

However, regardless of how many times a question has been asked in previous post there is always the possibility that some new information can be added from a new member with a fresh perspective or personal experience.

Things change in our world everyday, so... people let's continue to encourage any and all questions from all our members. We never know what might be asked given the right circumstances

Sometimes we might even be surprised by what is asked, or get an answer to a question we were reluctant to ask.

Take care all,
I must go now I hear the sounds of a small engine being fired up!

Keep Asking

Especially about chainsaws. Sooner ot later, a smart chainsaw manufacturer will add 2 bucks worth of shielding, making them PM friendly. There are still vibration issues. Don't know if I would want to subject my leads to that much vibraiton, especially in the first 6 months.

I hope to catch up on my chainsaw work while my PM is out. When it's back in, I'm not taking any chances.

Chain Saw

I have had my pacer (not ICD) for nearly 4 years. I use all sorts of power tools . No problem at all.

One question: why do you saw up chains? (g)

This was the one item that gave me pause when my cardiologist was going over the "don'ts". Almost a deal breaker. :-) I've got small acreage with several trees. The people that had the house before had in-laws who owned a nursery, and planted trees EVERYWHERE. The landscaping looked nice 22 years ago, but now... Branches need to be trimmed every year and sometimes a tree just needs to be cut down because it has over grown it's usefulness. The morning of the day my pacemaker implant was scheduled I was out doing all the yard work I knew I wasn't going to be able to tackle for a while, including sawing a couple of branches on a maple that were starting to overhang the house. The maple tree is close enough to the house and has gotten large enough that I think it will eventually need to come out (every year it leaves crap on the roof and driveway). I would hate to pay a couple of thousand dollars for something I could do myself.

My pacing is minimal, and usually only at night. The handles on my chainsaw are plastic, with a shield over the spark plug. If I wear rubber gloves, I suspect the chance is small the chainsaw will have any effect.

I'll probably fire up the chainsaw sometime in the spring and approach it with caution to see if I notice anything going bonkers. If not, I will probably proceed to do whatever trimming needs to be done at that time. I imagine this will cause my wife to fly out of the house and give me a lecture, but we'll see how it goes.

After all, what is a man without his chainsaw?

Chainsaw vibration

My cardiologist (who rides motocross and encourages me to be quite active) i'm 49, says the interference is not the big issue. The damage to the leads from the vibration is a very serious risk. It makes sense. Good luck Eric

Ok I have to jump in here....albeit late in the discussion.....But I am the one who primarily does all the brush cutting(weedwacker with blade) and cut the unwanted Alders with the chain saw....I use the mower rider and push mower....I must admist however I haven't gotten into the arc welding.. I think I will leave that for my hubby.

To be honest I never thougth about the vibration issue...the way I always looked at things with regards to my PM was...if it made me feel whoozy or caused some adverse affect .....step away from the culprit....

I don't see me giving up using my chainsaw anytime soon or any of my other implements of yard torture...well at least not until I win the lotto....then the tools can go rust.....

Cheers.....Mary Anne
