Atrophy!

I had my PM place in July, I had it placed underneath the muscle to give myself some extra cushioning, because I am still young and really hard on my body. But I have started to get some really noticeable atrophy on my left side. No one seems to know what to say or do about it, and my cardiologist pretends its not even there when I bring it up. Has anyone else had anything like this

Possibly thoracic outlet syndrome (google it). It's a long shot, but more likely if everything eles has been ruled out.
Good luck!
Cardiac Rehab

I'm going in for checkup today and my doc office has already mentioned cardiac rehab for me, and I'm excited to go. Hopefully I will learn which exercises are best for me, more about nutrition, etc. If you have time and insurance you might ask your doc about rehab, at least for a little while, then you could continue exercises at home. Good luck

Someone mentioned this on ICDforums.

Someone mentioned this on the ICD forums. I was wondering why they made that comment. I would assume you are talking about atrophy of the pec muscle and don't know why that would specifically happen. I understood that the device was placed between the pec major and minor and that no actual muscle tissue was cut. They might have to cut the muscle sheath, but usually doctors hate to cut any muscle tissue (recovery time is really long + once muscle dies, it's gone for good).
What do you mean?

Where is your atrophy? Do you mean your entire left side, or just your arm, leg, what? I have never heard of this, but I wonder what's causing it? I'll bet you do have your Dr. stumped! Bambi

Mine atrophy was related to blood clots and thoracic outlet syndrome...go to occupational therapy...it will change your life for the better!

Very interesting situation and comments about the atrophy. I don't have a clue but have been tensing each pec individually. It appears everything is there???

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
Out of the cardiologists realm

I would see an orthopedic doc for the atrophy. While it may be pacemaker related, this is not in the area of cardiology so he might not even recognize it, especially if his surgery caused it.
