Biventricular

Q: how long? About 2hrs with Coumadin. No problem with blood loss as very little is spilled. I had complications, stayed open for 5.5 hrs and INR was at 2.5 as I tried to get between 1.5-2.0 at pre-op check. With constant pacing a new piece should be good for 8 years +/-1 yr. Good Luck and dont fret over bruising.
thank you

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
Blood thinners

He'll be on a blood thinner for the rest of his life. The PM and the leads going into the heart need some kind of blood thinner to keep clots from forming.
If you don't like the warfarin (rat poison) you might ask about newer blood thinners. I'm on Eliquis. Really like it. Doesn't have all the bad side effects of warfarin while still giving me blood thinning. But it depends upon hubby's chemistry as to what blood thinner he can take long term.
While I was on warfarin / coumadin I'd get a cut. Wouldn't heal. Then cover the cut with a band aid. Cut would heal but when I pulled off the band aid I'd have two abrasions from the band aid. Would need two band aids to cover abrasions. When pulled off, would need four band aids to cover the abrasions - see the progression. Doctor wanted me on coumadin / warfarin at that level. Seven trips to the hospital because of internal bleeding and I told him to stuff it.
New doctor put me on Eliquis while I was unconscious. No bad side effects so far.
Hope this helps.
