I am learning to live with this object inside of me. I call it my back up generator. The first couple of days were hard. I feel very helpless my little boy (7 months old) just looks at me and cries to be held. Oh it just breaks my heart. I get down on the floor with him and play and I think it makes it a little better for him. My husband a god sent is very supportive. He is taking care of our baby and me. : ) I don't know what I would do with out the support of my husband.
I have noticed my shoulder is very sore when I wake up in the morning. It feels very heavy. Is this normal? Also I know you cannot move your elbow above the shoulder or behind the back and no more then 5 pounds.....can I lean down with my harm. For instance to pull my pants up. I have been doing pretty much everything with my right arm and it's taking for ever.

dressing

You should be fine dressing by yourself! It's ok to use the left arm, just keep it low, as you already know. You're probably feeling stiff and sore in the morning because you are being careful not to move it in your sleep.
Hang in there, the six weeks will be over before you know it and you'll be holding your baby with both arms again! He'll never remember this, but he'll grow up knowing he has a healthy mommy.
14 weeks on now!

Hi there, it will soon feel better. The one thing that i do still find though is that its better to wear a bra rather than not. On the days that i am chillin in my pjs i get a bit more pain, not bad, just niggly, in my shoulder.
The point of not raising your arm is to not jerk your wires out, i think i was a bit too wary and tried to use my right arm for everything; dont let your muscle waste or your shoulder get stiff.
The dressing bit was fine for me, but the undressing was a bit tricky if i was wearing something really tight fitting.
Someone on here told me to try sleeping with a pillow under my arm, that helped but also a hot water bottle has been good.
Take care!! but enjoy your little one!
You know you're wired when...
Your electric tooth brush interferes with your device.

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.

I have had my p.m. in for 3 weeks noe and had a sore shoulder until a couple of days ago. My pacemaker site is still tender but getting better everyday. I have used my arm (apart from liting and raising above the head) pretty much from the beginning, but i am also new to all this and no expert!
Hope you can soon syart cuddling your little one, it must be very difficult for you at the moment
Best wishes Jan
