Agree?

I had a pacemaker installed on valentines day. I would appreciate some advice on resuming my weekly bowling and bicycling. My instructions say 4 weeks after surgery, is that OK?

Ask your doctor about the bowling. I agree with TraceyE that he/she might want you to wait longer before you get that physical. But you never know - better safe then sorry!

Wait out your month - you don't want to pull a lead lose!

My doc. told me 8 weeks but that was my emergency doc. When i got home and saw a heart doc. At 4 weeks he said what are you waiting for. Go Bowl so i did at just after 4 weeks. had no problems. But be sure and check with your Doc. Bowlrbob

I would give it 6 weeks before bowling. It's probably ok after 4 weeks but 6 is safer. In that time, we need to keep our arm below shoulder level and not lift more than 5 lbs in order to protect the leads and give them time to settle into place. Bike, 4 weeks should be plenty. If you don't have other restrictions and you feel up to it, it's ok to start light aerobic exercise now, just remember the rules about your left arm (assuming your pm is on the left) and don't overdo it.

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
