I think i'm moving to England in the next few months. I'll be close-ish to London, so more than happy to make to commute for a great specialist.
If anyone knows of one, preferably that deals with young patients, or patients of NCS, please pass on their details!!!
Thanks
Lyds

London Cardiologists

Hi Lyds
In the UK, it is now the law as I understand it, for NHS
patients to be able to go to the hospital and consultant
of their choice.
Usually patients want to go to their nearest hospital, and have no idea which consultant to choose. So it is common for their GP to choose for them.
If you are moving to south west London, I would recommend St George's Trust. This is a major teaching hospital and a European Centre of Excellence.
Dr David Ward, Dr Ian Beeton and Dr Elijah Behr are excellent cardiologists/EPs.
Treatment is free under the NHS.
Best of luck

My cardiologist

Hi Lyds,
My cardiologist is in Hastings, East Sussex, and is really good. Her name's Dr Dickinson and she's really friendly. I'm her youngest patient at 21, what did you mean by young patients? Did you mean kids or young adults?

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.

Congratulations on moving to England, I hope you have a great time.
Most of the big specialist hospitals in the UK are in London. Whereabouts will you live?
Will you have health cover or will you be relying on NHS? If on the NHS you don't get much of a choice, it depends on your GP. A good GP is the place to start.
My EP is in Basildon, which is a regional Cardio-Thoracic Centre. I have a Cardiologist there and one in The Heart Hospital in London, she is excellent for Cardiomyopathy.
I had no choice at all in my doctors as I arrived at Basildon in an ambulance with SCD.
If you pm me with some details, I can point you to some good sources of info.
Good luck.
