Vegas Trip

Just an update, I just got back last night. (Sat.) from my Vegas Bowling trip, I thought I would let everyone know the results. I won a sweeper event and placed in both tourney's I bowled in. I won $2400.00 bowling. Better yet I won just a hair over $3000.00 on Keno. Now that's a great trip you don't usually win at Keno. So I had a great time , felt great all week and drove straight through going home. That is a twelve hour trip. Had no problems health-wise at all. I am looking forward to the ne...

defibulator implant

Hello, I had a defibulator implanted under my breast on October 5th. It was a one night stay and the surgeon told me it would take longer than in surgery than if I put it in the usual place, but that's ALL he told me. It's now been almost 8 weeks, my breast is swollen and there are sharp pains. Has anyone else had a defibulator placed as I have, and if so, how long will this pain go on? I'm about to say take the darn thing out...

Many thanks for a response.

PM and Meds

Hi again,

l am relatively new to PM and this club so first let me say hi to all of you. I have afib and high BP. The beta-blocker (ZIAC) I was taking was slowing my irregular heart down to much so I had a dual chamber Guidant Insignia PM implanted on November 13th. At that time I was switched to Toprol for the high blood pressure and there is come discussions about being put on Coumadin. Do any of you have a similar situation. I have heard some negative comments about Toprol on other...

Violin, I am confused.....

Violin,

Your post states you are still "winded" and ask for input from club members. Yet in a comment to Michelle Susan's post you state you are a PHYSICIAN and advise her to get a 2nd opinion. Why would you not follow your own advice and see your EP or seek another opinion? Don't you have medical care immediately available to you? Surely you have colleagues you can go to for opinions. Can you see why I say I am confused? Good luck and God bless.

Jokes ;-p

Hello my Pacer friends! I have a question....

Would anyone care to share what their favorite joke is in the "You're Wired When...." column is?

My favorite one is "Jerry and the Pacemakers! hee hee. Every time I read it I just crack up! The jokes cycle around and that one is my favorite.
I am just curious as to what my fellow pacers might think.

laughing every time I see it!

Had my Defib for 2 months

I had Vtach (240 pulse) as a result from a heart infection 18 years ago. They attempted ablation, but I had to much scaring from the infection.

Even after 2 months, I still can't stand the thing. Before I went into surgery, I knew I might get one, but little did I realize it was the size of a flip cell phone. Unfortunately I'm relatively fit, so there isn't a lot of tissue that could be removed, so it sticks up 1/8th an inch or so (worse towards my shoulder or if I move at all).

Another A fib question

Hi everyone, I have been given anatolol for my afib starting on 25mg for the first few days to see if it improved and now on 50 mg per day, this has now settled my afib down, but I am getting constant pain in my right chest, when I phoned the doc about it he said it must be something else. I have this feeling that the drug is causing it, anyone with a similar experiance?
Regards to all, Ian.

Thanks!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you who helped me with my question about being "winded" and how long until i don't feel like an old lady. I am thankful for those of you who took the time to respond. I will definitely give time to heal and get stronger. I am a cyclist and a golfer and a generally active person.

Your experiences truly helps and i am thankful to Pacemaker Club.com for allaying my fears.

The time has (almost) arrived

Hi Everyone,

As a regular 'pre PM op' visitor here for the past couple of months, thought I'd let you know that I'm about to become a fully battery operated member. My cardio called this afternoon and they have a cancellation next Monday (26th Nov) so I'll be having my first PM impant.

I'm a little nervous, but thanks to all you wonderful people here (extra shout out to Allan and Lotti) for sharing your stories, tips and experiences, I'm not half as nervous and terrified a...

Hi-I'm new

Hi everyone--I got my pacemaker two years ago when I was 27...I have never been on here before and I have never really spoken to anyone else who has a pacemaker...it's very exciting to have so many people who might be going through similiar experiences. I have sick sinus syndrome or possibly stokes adams syndrome. Anyway my heart used to come to a grinding halt and make me faint. After the pacemaker things became better --but for a year afterwards I was still experiencing fainting spells though...

Thank you for the great club

Also, thank you to both CathrynB and Lotti for their response to my asking about swimsuit problems. It really helps to know that what you are feeling is a common problem with pacemakers. I had an ablation that failed a two years ago, and in late August I had an AV node ablation with a pacemaker to the ventricle and started swimming five weeks later.. doing too much backstroke to begin with and felt many strange feelings near my pm. It is all o.k. now, but I did find out through a great website a...

Thanksgiving Blessings to All

Hello Dear Friends,

On this Thanksgiving Eve (in the USA) I want to tell each of you how very grateful I am to have you in my life. Though we will probably never meet face-to-face (except thru our photo album) you have become a source of strength for me - I know I can always rely on someone to "be there" for me. This has been a difficult year for our family and I have appreciated so much the caring from my pacemaker friends. Sometimes I come to this club just to see how everyone is...
