All rainbows and flowers?

I'm a few weeks out from my first PM surgery. My Dr. and everyone I've talked to say its a simple in and out procedure and I can get back to work in a day or two. Nothing to worry about. What's the real story? What experiences have you (anyone) had?

Second question. What kind of high voltage equipment do you need to avoid with a PM? I'm a ceramic artist and use a 240 volt electric kiln... will I have to avoid this?

New to group

Hello all, I have been reading many posts on here for about two weeks since I found out I needed a pacemaker. So I'm still new to all of the terms as well. I'm 29 and I'm on the 3rd day of having a pacemaker. My doctor told me I could remove my bandage today and the incision with the staples looks really good. I have no complaints on that and I can actually feel my heart beat. I was down to 38 bpm. The main complaint I have is my arm and chest muscles are pretty sore. How long does this normally...

2nd ablation of sinus node

I just had a 2nd ablation of my sinus node last week. Every since then I have been in accelerated junctional rhythm. They raised my low setting on my pm to 90 to try to override it but when I get up or walk a little I feel like I am going to black out. I feel this pressure in my neck and then feel sick then everything starts going black. This is not livable. Has anyone else experienced this and is there anything I can do?

VT Ablation

Hello group, I am recovering from having my 3rd ablation, which I had on 9-6-12. Just little back ground I was scheduled to have a pacemaker put in, but during the surgery the dr decided on not doing it. He woke me up during surgery and I was still having my PVC's. he told my husband to let me know when I woke up from recovery not to worry about them. He changed his mind in the pacemaker and instead when I weas released from the hospital on that following Tuesday. He ordered a holster monitor on...

Greetings

Just had a pacemaker implant four days ago. An internet search on pacemakers turned up this site. I'm looking forward to interacting with the members as well as learning things that I do not know.

My surgery went well and I'm seeming to be recovering well. I go next Wednesday for my first appointment since getting out of the hospital.

I'm interested in finding anyone else who is also on sotalol.

Replacing Bi-ventricular Pacemaker

I have a question.....I have had an AV node ablation and bi-ventricular pacemaker implanted about 5 yrs ago. It's changed my life for the better, I feel normal again after having severe a-fib that could not be corrected any other way. Now they say that it's almost time to replace it....has anyone else have theirs replaced? Wondered if they can do it as an outpatient (as the basic pacemakers are), or because it controls my heart...would I have to spend the night in the hospital to be monitore...

Steri-Strips off too early?

Hi everyone!
I just had my very first pacer installed 2 days ago. The surgeon and the nurses told me to change the dressing today. But when I gently pulled the bandage off it took one of the steri-strips with it.
I still haven't even made my post-op checkup and I'm worried about the repercussions. Will this make my scar stick out or god forbid the wound widen?
Any help would be great. Thanks so much. I'm blown away by how much this forum has been a help and relief throughout thi...

Fluttering after pacemaker implanted

I'm 32 years old and had a pacemaker implanted 2 days ago due to symptomatic bradycardia and secondary av block with Mobitz type 2. After the pacemaker was implanted I would get a small fluttering in my chest every now and then. I just wanted to know if it is normal to get the fluttering after the implant. Other than The occasional fluttering I feel great. I have minor pain near the incision that I control with Tylenol.

Successful Revision with TONS of consious sedation

Friday I had my pocket and lead revision, and everything went well.

This, my first pacemaker, was original put in 4 months ago, but the ventricular lead was having some sensing issues and my pacemaker was rotating away from my chest wall and moving way too much.

So they moved the existing ventricular lead (the atrial lead was still aok and so left alone)
And then closed up the original pocket that was below the scar and moved the pacemaker into a newly created pocket a...

VT ablation

I recently posted that I was having surgery on 9-6-12 and it was for an AV node ablation witht the possiblity of a pacemaker. Well I had the surgery however he did a VT ablation without doing a pacemaker. My dr stated that while I was in surgery he believed he was able to ablate the area without having to put a pacer in but once I was awake i started to have the same problem with the heart rhythm. So now I came home from the hospital yesterday and now on monday I have to go back to the drs and p...

Bandage removal

Curious as to when most people remove the bandage from the surgery site. Also how long has everyone waited to get their surgery site wet. My discharge paperwork says to wait a week to get it wet. It will be 13 days (this Wednesday) for my second follow up with my local cardiologist. He will remove my staples at that time. Thanks

Pacemaker

About 2 1/2 weeks ago I received a pacemaker. I have atrial fibrallation and bradycardia.... I was short of breath, so tired and felt like I was going to pass out, this might happen several times a day. My pulse was quite low. Since the pacemaker, I do not feel better. When I am sitting down, it isn't too bad. When I stand up I am very light headed, short of breath and weak at times. No energy.

Also, on the top of the pacemaker there is a hard protruding lump, and from time t...

Kevin 2.0

Just had my first replacement Medtronic ICD installed today and everything went very smoothly. The original and been put in up in NYC at Lenox Hill hospital in April of '07, and since we are now living in Myrtle Beach the replacement was done at the new heart center at the Grand Strand medical center. I was very impressed with my new EP and his lab team and the hospital staff as a whole. Showed up a 6 AM this morning and was out of there by a little after noon. Need to take it easy for about a...
