I had my 3 week post-op check-up yesterday. Everything went great. Thanks to the home monitoring they told me I had only 1 PVC and no other abnormal heart beats since the pacemaker implant. I'm pacing 66% of the time in the Atria and 0% in the Ventricle. He said I was good to start running and exercising as hard as I want (minus lifting anything heavy or arm above my head for another few weeks at least). I was set at 50-140 but he removed the upper limit completely since I've had no tachycardia...

Hi everyone! I'm hoping you will all be able to give me some insights into the world of 'setting changes'!
I had a dual chamber st judes PM implanted exactly 3 weeks ago for complete congenital AV heart block, which was identified before I was born. My sinus node works and is dictating the pace rate and I have a min of 50 and a max of 160. I'm 28 and have gone my whole life with no symptoms or heart problems. I got the PM just as a 'precaution'.
Since I got the PM, I've b...

Hi all. I'm looking for some guidelines to help me decide if I want or need rate response. I've read quite a few posts where some people have turned RR off.
I have SSS, Brady and VVS. Prior to getting my PM (Aug 26, 2013) I had a couple dozen syncope episodes over the last dozen years, but most of the time I felt fine. I wasn't aware of any problem when jogging or bike riding. I have to admit I am way too sedentary and don't get a lot of exercise, and my energy has been low over the y...

Had follow up visit to PM clinic, after treadmill run with monitors, they told me everything looked normal paced to app. 125 while running app 10 min at 9-10 min pace. I felt slightly tired but beginning to struggle staying aerobic. They made a minor change to the activity acceleration from 60 to 30 which was one of the original settings when I felt better. I went and ran app 25 min outside and it was still border line anaerobic, but the improvement was I was able to run the whole time without t...

How many of you have the rate response sensor turned on? What are the benefits or complications from having it on?

I didn't mean to mislead anyone about using a TENS unit with their PM. Mine is a Metronic Revo and was implanted Aug 16 of this year. Metronics' rep came to my cardiologist's office and tested my pm with the TENS UNIT.. It did not affect my pm. This is not to say that everyone's pm would work the same. Have your doctor test Your TENS with your pm before trying it.

Hi everyone!
I'm a 32 year old mother to 4. I was perfectly healthy until March of this year. My heart suddenly didn't work right anymore and after a trip to the ER and a week long hospital stay, the Dr finally decided to insert the PM. I'm still feeling palpitations but they've tweaked the settings a few different times and adjusted my meds and nothing is fixing it. Does anyone else deal with this? Am I to expect this the rest of my life or should I continue to have it all adjusted?

Hello every one!
My story: I am 4 weeks post op. I have a dual chamber PM to treat bradycardia and pauses. I have a history of SSS, AVNRT, Paroxysmal A-fib/flutter and up to 15 beat runs of VT.
I had a check up (interrogation) because of my complaint of palpitations that make me feel not so nice (they don't feel like my AT rhythm). I have become very good at ignoring palpitations, but these make me feel pressure up my neck and behind my eyes with significant dizziness that linge...

I have a St. Judes 5820 installed three weeks ago. My BP and HR has been steady since. I am taking meds for cardiomyopathy and tomorrow I have another echo to see if its changing.
My cardio says we will check out the pacer. Not sure what that means so I need help on what to ask him about what is stored and can be read out.
Does it contain any history to show AFib, as that is what started me into this world of cardiology 4 months ago? AFib before was about very high heart r...

Hi. Got my first PM on Aug 26th. I am not PM dependent. I have a Sorin Reply DR for SSS, Brady and VVS.
Got a call from a monitoring company (prompted by my EP) about sending me a telephone monitoring device. I have a few questions.
Do most of you use one and is it worth the cost and hassle? I live only about 6 miles from the EP office.
What does it check. Battery, threshold, sensitivity?
Will it work with an iPhone? I do not own a land line and have n...

Okay, this is mostly a foreign language to me, although I'm familiar with some of these numbers, not all. If someone could help shine some light on these numbers for me. Thanks!
First just some basic info:my PM is St. Jude accent SR RF 1210 and V Lead Tendril SDX 1688TC/52
Basic operation as follows: also my pacer is pacing 56% (is this normal?)
Mode: VVIR-AAIR
V. triggering: off
V. noise reversion mode: VOO
threshold (measured ave) : Auto (-0.5) (2.0)

I had my checkup on my Metronic Revo pacer with TENS UNIT on. There was no change in the pacer so it is ok to use it at waist or below. I feel wonderful 7 weeks after implant. I have plenty of energy, NO SYNCOPY, lower blood pressure and with Sotalol my AFib is under control. Hooray! Thank God!
Great report!

Yesterday I went to get my CRT-D checked out and all was well! Dr. had put two new wires in so I was on a 6 week disabled status.
At about the three week mark, I forgot and grabbed the shower curtain and yanked it back! OUCH!! I hurt for 3 hours thinking for sure I pulled some wires. The next day the communicator box was sending the messages to the office and I didn't get a call so I figured it was all good. The tech told me if that had happened they would have known and called me and said...

I have had my device for 3 days now. It is a Boston Scientific Advantio series. I turn 50 tomorrow. :-) Prior to installation, my resting heart rate was mid to high 40's. I am very active, enjoying workouts in the gym and cycling. My question revolves around the minimum heart rate setting from my doctor. He set it at 70. This both sounds and feels too high for me. Resting in a chair or trying to sleep at night, it feels like my heart is beating too fast. Is it prudent to request it be re...

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
