My pacemaker was inserted 6 weeks ago. All was healing well until a couple of weeks ago (just after my 4 week technician check) when I noticed a small, blackish area on the left hand side of my scar. Four days ago, after a shower, I noticed the scar was weeping slightly from a small hole that had appeared in the blackish area (the discharge was slight and transparent). I have since been to see my GP and have been put on two types of antibiotics for 7 days. My GP doesn't know why this has happene...

Hi, is there anything I can do about my recent nightmare box change? put simply I know things can sometimes go wrong but what happened to me has (never happened before) my doc's words.
After removing the box the doc was unable to remove the screw from the lead which resulted in me having to have another one put in the whole thing took 3 hours with me wide awake I can only describe it as some kind of torture, I'm still traumatised a week later... any help is appreciated thanks.

I'm a 65 year old female. I have a history of syncope and was diagnosed with AV block, I received my pacer on the last day of January. After a couple of weeks of recuperation I was able to resume my normal active life. However, I was reviewing my medical records online and I noticed that I now exhibit "Pacemaker Syndrome." Can someone enlighten me?

Consumers play an important public health role by reporting to the FDA unexpected side effects after using a medical product, or experiencing other problems with any products that the agency regulates.
Timely reporting enables the agency, if necessary, to promptly address the issue. There are a number of ways you can report problems to the agency, depending on the type of problem and product. When you submit a safety report through FDAâs Safety Reporting Portal, or any other way des...

I've read several of your comments about the ST.Jude's Defib deciding to go off like a cell phone on vibrate. This has just happened to me for the second time in one day and I was very confused. I suspected the battery is needing replacing (even though I've only had it for 6 years) and I'll call my Cardiologist Monday. But thank you so much for your comments as it's given me a clearer picture of what has transpired and some comfort in knowing it's not just me, but others have experienced this we...

Hello, I am new to the group. I am on my second pacemaker due to my heart rate and blood pressure dropping which causes me to pass out. I have not had any real trouble with either one before. But this morning I woke up and have had pain off and on around the pace make site and my ribs in that area. It hurts when I take big breathes or move too much. I have not done anything that I can think of that would have caused a muscle strain. Any idea what it may be? Thanks!

I had a severe case of congestive heart failure in 2014 at the age of 48. The day I went to an Urgent care facility after feeling sick and weak for several weeks they put me in the hospital and within three hours i had one of two surgerys, a stint and a three wire CRT (boston scientific) device installed. The doctor who performed the surgery told me that he had only used two of the wires on the three wire unit with no real explaination why.
Last month at my cardio doctor visit i learn...

I had my ablation two weeks ago and am experiencing what I think is a problem. My minimum bpm is 80 but no matter how hard I work in exercise (walking or biking mainly) it never goes over 80 and I become really short of breath. I don't get this or why there does not seem to be a maximum. I go back in three weeks for a checkup but I don't want to wait that long if there is a problem. Does anyone know what might be happening?

Hi i had a Pacemaker implant on Tuesday 26/04/2016 and not long after surgery i started to get what i would call abdominal palpitations. I explained this to my surgeon on his ward visit and he explained this was a common problem and could be fixed by re-programming my Pacemaker. On the day of my discharge these twitches were fixed by using WIFI. Now i am at home the twitches have returned but only when i lay on my Right hand side every other position and i am fine do you think this will settle p...

I received a single lead Medtronic pacemaker in November 2008 to treat Sinus Node dysfunction and Bradycardia. The surgery and recovery went well and my life changed so much for the better. I received a new battery in August 2015 and suffered from significant breast edema. My left breast was twice the size of my right. Though it has gone down, my left breast is still significantly larger than the right and has a heavy feeling. No bruising or tenderness. My cardiologist suspected a blood cl...

Hi Guys,
New member here, just looking for others experiences with their PM. I'm 30yo male, had a pacemaker put in about six months ago. Since then I've noticed more and more "symptoms" and was wondering how common they are in others with a PM. I started feeling a flicking feeling in my throat and thought i was being paranoid but its getting worse. I've started getting chest pain along with it. Is this normal? I went back to the specialist and he gave me a home monitor, he didn't r...

Hi everybody,
Had a PM St. Jude's dual lead inserted in 2013. Have had long term issues with shortness of breath, feeling faint, generally feeling like I can't drag my body around. Always tired and break into sweats on very little exertion.
Hospitalised for a angiogram, with nil result, also had CT scan in case it was a lung problem also nil result. They are now saying it could be my meds (Noten) build up.
Has anybody had these problems?

My mom has had a pacemaker for years and she just had to get the battery replaced on Thursday. All went well, but now the area surrounding the incision is red and the area below it is too.
We already called the on call doctor, who said we needed to head down for the ER to get antibiotics in her.
I was just wondering if they would keep her overnight? Or for much longer?
She's bummed she has to go down there, especially since it's her last day off and she was supposed to go b...

I asked a couple weeks ago about dizzy spells but a couple days ago everything started going haywire, with dizzy spells that is. I am at 6 weeks of having a Medtronic A2DR01 inserted and as of a couple days ago I have a hard time walking around because everything is spinning in my head and eyes. I do have an appt. to see the Card. next week but thought I would ask if anyone has gone through this after having a PM installed. Hell, I'm not even sure it's caused from the PM. I spent a good we...
