Hello. I am new to the PM club and happy to have found this resource!
I had a Medtronic 2 lead PM implanted on Halloween (trick or treat?). I went for an acrylic nail manicure and the power sander/drill seemed to have caused my heart to beat irreguarly, make my head swoon, and make me feel like fainting. After I stepped away, these symptoms went away but I still experienced mild palpitations for about an hour after. I read that these drills should be at least 12" away so that...

Hi.
I am 69 years old and in August 2017 I had a Medtronic dual lead pacemaker implanted after
my Reveal Linq device was analysed a few days before. It showed a pause on 25 July at 04:15 hours; the ECG showed a brief episode of Wenckebach, followed by a 16 seconds pause in the context of complete heart block. I was asleep at the time so luckily knew nothing of this. It could have been a very different story had I been driving or simply going about my d...

Is there such a thing as Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia without the tachycardia?
Background: back in the early days after I got my little friend, I developed pounding, pain, and if I tried to push through it instead of sitting down, I would collapse.
After two years of steadily getting worse, I was finally diagnosed with PVC induced PMT. (But only after I demonstrated the collapsing part while in the EP's clinic.) Since there was no heart block, the sinplest solution was...

Got my PM 3 weeks ago. Felt great that day, then shortly after laying down for sleep I started having chest and neck pain. BP has shot up to 186/125. Went to hospital and they found no issues. Follow up with heart doctor, EKG, sonogram, PM checked and all looks fine. Since then blood pressure has been high. A few nights ago 192/86. Dr has increased my BP med and added another. Also started a steroid pack for possible inflammation. BP is still running 130-150's. Anyone experienced similar...

Just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. My pacemaker seems to be complicating treatment. Surgeon says I'm a good candidate for radiation, radiation oncologist says I'm a good candidate for surgery. Has anyone gone thru this?

After 3 years of suffering pain and discomfort in pacemaker area which is affecting my left arm with numbness and tingling, my new Cardiologist suggested that I undergo another "ambulatory surgery " where he will open, clean and reubicate the pacemaker behind the muscle. He does guarantee that the pain will go 100%, but the possibility is same pain, less pain or no pain. I'm undecided cause I think that the implant caused a nerve damage or pinched.
Has an...

I got my surgery when I was 14 years old (currently 19) and I used to play a lot of sports and be super active, but since I got my pacemaker I feel really bad when I run or try to do any type of cardio. I talked to my doctor and he didn't really pay attention to it. When I try doing cardio my body feels really weak and my heart starts pumping really really fast. Does this happened to anyone else? If it did, how did you fix it? I hate not being able to do any type of cardio.
Thank yo...

Just wondering if anybody knows what the chances are of developing pace maker syndrome. My dual chamber St Jude PM has been in 3 1/2 years. Everything is fine says the EP. At 73 years old my ejection fraction is 50 to 54% according to the echo. I asked about installing a lead to the left ventricle to prevent pacemaker syndrome. Cardiologist says " don't poke a skunk". What percent of users of a dual chamber PM develope this condition? I have read anywhere from 5% to 8...

I had a pacemaker implamted in early July. Since implantation I've experienced strong electrical impulses on average at least once daily. These "events" last for approx three minutes each. The wierd thing is that they each only happen at five minutes after the hour. I don't detect any pacing "events" at other times. There is no pattern of the specific hour only at :05 after the hour. These events will be strong enough to wake me...

for the past 3-4 months I have had 4-5 occasions when my heart rate has increased to the 120,s for 5 to 10 minutes. My Dr. has recommended adjusting medications, but has provided no particular reason for the increase. I would like to know if this is a common occurrance and reasons if any. Thanks, S. Osborn

Hi everyone,
I need some help. First of all I was bit and scratched by my cat two nights ago. I cleaned my foot/angle, put Neosporin & bandage. The next morning I couldn't walk and my foot/ankle was swollen. The puncture wounds are small and closed but clearly inflamed.. today just so happened to be my yearly visit with my cardiologist. My husband had to go into work late because I couldn't drive let alone walk. My cardiologist was so concerned...

Thanks to all for your comments Re: 10th Sept. 2019 Post. I should make it clear I was a manual worker and have no medical knowledge.
ROBO Pop. You have Guessed it with one exception. I do now have a replacement pacemaker plus extra lead produced by Boston Scientific, the two original leads were left in during the four- and half-hour operation change. I have to make it very clear that at no time has a pacemaker made by Boston Scientific ever ele...

My dual lead pacemaker, i believe imported into the UK was first programed to activate and deal with high or low heart beats. The pacemaker and leads moved back and forth in a long pocket with every movement of my arms and shoulders which i thought was obviously intended. I believe a lead was put through a vein straddling a valve and pulled tight.
After the node ablation i was soon being awakened at night. always on my side with symtoms of Tacy...
