Thankful

Well! I am currently a little over 4 weeks post implant and am feeling quite well. I can't believe the difference in my energy level! Wow. I still have some discomfort where the port of leads come out that sticks out of my skin, but that will go away. I can not believe only 4 weeks have passed. It feels so much longer.

A couple of weeks after surgery, I was concerned that something was wrong with my implant, as my heart seemed to be POUNDING. I went to my cardiologist, he checked it o...

Does a PM/ICD beep prior to releasing a shock? Do they ever "talk" to you in the sense of a verbal warning etc.? I can just picture/hear a muffled voice coming from my chest! Ha!
Thanks,
Rick

Here I am again with ??

I know you folks are getting tired of hearing from me, but there always seems to be something.

Does anyone have problems laying on their side. I think I mentioned that I get a stabbing type sensation on my left side, but I tried to stay over on it for a few minutes last night. I started feeling the irregular beats (PAC or PVC type sensations).

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks

HurtHeart, thanks for the information. That is really pretty scary when you look @ it this way, but hopefully, it has been sufficiently tested. I think I probably am one of the guinie (sp) pigs too. My EP lit up like a Christmas tree when I asked him about it. Unfortunately, he probably thought I had researched it, but I had only seen an advertisement that said "ask your doctor about an MRI compatible PM". Dumb just asked. I love, love, love my doctor, but I did not recieve any information...

MRI PM

I have just found this forum & am thrilled because I have so many questions.

I was wondering if anyone has the MRI SureScan Pacemaker by Medtronic. Although I asked about it, I really didn't have any information about it before my surgery. As I was being sedated the device specialist told me it had only been in this country for a year & Europe for 3 years.

I understand that it & the leads are heavier than the other devices. I had an emergency revision due to pain the da...

Hi All,

My Medtronic bi-ventricular ICD was implanted just over 4 years ago. I have been doing fine. When I went for an interrogation of the device last Thursday, the technician told me that my batter level is 2.68 and said we need to evaluate after 2 months. It appears, if the level goes down to 2.62, then I’ll have to get a new device within 3 months! There was no sign of trouble when I did my previous scan in August last.

Frankly, it came as a rude shock. Since I am...

I guess I might as well say hi.

I'm a 20 year old guy from Canada. I'm pretty into whatever I wanted to be into, weather it be skiing, scuba, rock climbing, biking, golf, pretty much anything that gets me outside.

In September of last year, I was in a bike race, crossed the finish line, and collapsed. (I finished second, by the way) It was about as good as timing gets, as there were 2 doctors and a nurse standing watching the finish line, who apparently knew how to do CPR. It took 20 minutes of solid CPR before an...

Wow..

It has been a couple of days short of a full week for my implant surgery. The awful pain I had is gone! Just very sore and pulling because of the implant weight. Still have a ways to go with healing and movement/sleep. But, without the haze of pain, I can tell a BIG difference in my fatigue level. I can breathe great (feel like I got a set of new lungs too). It's great to have a normal heartbeat. I have not had one for 16 yrs, and forgotten how good it feels. What an odyssey this has been in a...

Sad

I am going on my 3rd day after my ICD implantation. I feel, broken and damaged. I feel like I will never be normal again. I can't even cry. I am breathing better than I had been, I know that is a good thing logically, but... at night the pain seems more intense for some reason. And my heart is is doing little series of beating hard, it can be seen thru my tee shirt. I am so tired of everything. The only reason I can post this, is because I have a notebook and it's really small.

2 weeks

Hi All,
First time here. I'm 72 & feel pretty good now after 2 weeks with my new ICD. My question is, will I feel better the longer I have the ICD ? Does everyone get the big shock sometime?
Thanks,
Dwight

CRT-D

Hello all - This is my first posting, so I am a little nervous!  I’m having my CRT-D implanted on May 8th.  I was very nervous at first when my Cardiologist told me about this device that was going to be put into my HEART!  I’m not worried about the surgery.  I’ve had many, many other kinds of surgical procedures.  I have had CHF for 12 years and have been on good medication. My EF is 13%.  I don’t swell, can lay flat and breath,...

this time last year......

Its been almost a year (May 17th, 2011) when my life changed, went to the ER to find out I had congestive heart failure, 39 years old at the time with two boys 7 and 4 years old. Had to where a life vest for 90 days then on August 23rd, 2011.... got the pacemaker/ICD. Been a very tough time the past year. The Meds have me constantly tired. Been reading some of the msg's people have put on this board and I guess it has made me feel not so alone.... Just wanted to say hello everyone

fast beats at night

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this:  when they lay down at night they can feel their heartbeats like their heart was going to jump out of their bodies...It happens every time I lay down at night.

My icd-d was put in Jan of 2012.  I had it checked last week; all seemed well, but I mentioned it to the Dr and he said just take more of the digoxin.  Well before having the icd put in I never felt my heart pounding like this.  I do have a LBBB and card...

Soccer player shocked by ICD (Video)

Have any of you ever seen this video? I've had several inappropriate shocks, and I definitely have my share of anxiety. Watching this video made me lose some of that anxiety, and remember that it's there to protect me..........sometimes I forget it's kinda like a guardian angel.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
