I have my third pacemaker, a St Jude since Dec 20th
I live in a posh retirement center of 800 people.
The pacer has been reset 4 times and works fine at the hospital but not at home. We live about 20-30 feet from a maintenance lot for the entire retirement community.
It has high voltage signs on three metal fences near the brick wall separating our property from the administration.
Could this make my pacer malfunction because it is constantly over 95 -123 and never drops to...

Hi,
Can anyone comment on the effectiveness of the Osun PA0010 Pace Alert device? I drive diesel electric locomotives and the main generators would give off large amounts of EMF. So far I've managed to stay clear of them, but I'm not sure how much leakage there might be especially into the driver's cab when I'm working.
I have a St Jude Medical pacemaker installed in Aug 2012 after a catheter ablation went wrong and gave me heart block.
Any advice would be greatl...

Hello,
I have just had my pacemaker implanted, so I have lots of questions. I will just start off with one today. I love to cook and it is really an activity I enjoy on my induction stove.
The brochure advises to to stand 60cm (2feet) away from induction cooktop. This is really not practical. So apart from using 60cm handle utensils and feeling like a 'witch stirring the pot' and as I do not want to get a new cook top, has anyone had experiences with using induction. Many thanks in ad...

I was drying my hair when the hair dryer blew up! Bang and a flash out of the actual hair dryer. I was using my right hand (pacemaker is on left side) and have a small burn in the palm of my hand. I feel a bit shaken up and my heart's racing from the shock I guess, but does this mean I must have my pacemaker checked? Can the shock affect it? Many thanks

Hello everyone I'm new here although I have had my pacer a little over two years now. No problems with it. I love it. I never even think about it unless I get ready to "do" something, then I do some research. I have found its difficult to get answers to my questions on Google alone. Anyway, I would like to know if anyone has used hydromassage since getting their PM. I have severe lower back pain and was looking at this option but I'm not sure if it is safe to use or not. Does anyone know or ha...

I currently have a Boston Scientific SCS that has given me back my life from nerve damage. Now I find out that my fainting spells are likely due to my low heart rate and a PM is likely the answer shortly.
Ist is contraindicated according to BS lit but a case by case approval may be possible.

Hi guys,
I am getting my pacemaker in 6 days, and work in the mobile phone industry, just wondering if I will have any restrictions?
I have read online that you have to hold them a certain distance from your pacemaker, is this true?
Also read somewhere that rollercoasters are a no go....i hope this was a joke!?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Amy.

It has occurred to me that "Less than Lethal" use of force is being increasingly employed by law enforcement. This prompts the question: Will the high voltage make the PM go outa whack?

Hi everybody, in regards to electric (arc welders) I have been looking into this subject and have found that it is recommended to twist the positive and negative leads together, secure the earth as close as possible to where the area is being welded, move the machine as far away from you as you can, don't lean in too close to the arc and have somebody near you that can turn the welder off if anything goes wrong...... My question is have anyone out there actually used an arc welder who has a pace...

Hi, I have a pacemaker and wondered if anyone has used a Neff Slide and Hide oven, the specs say it uses 50hz, does anyone know if this item is dangerous to use? I like the idea of the way this oven works and when removing hot items you don't have to contend with the oven door being in the way. Thanks.

I had my Medtronics PM replaced with a Medtronic Viva Quad XT CRT-D (defibrillator) and am worried about needing medical aid. I have a medical alert bracelet already but am worried about some idiot not noticing it. Is it unreasonable to consider a small tattoo in block letters over my implant site? I tell myself that I worry too much but then I think "what's the big deal if it makes me feel better about it?" Just not sure if it would cause any problems. I know less than zilch about what is...

I have my first domestic airline flight next week since I got my PM. I'd like to know whether I should go through the normal passenger scanner or bypass the scanner and have them use a wand. I am not PM dependent, but I don't want to mess up my PM programming or cause any unnecessary fuss at the airport.
I have my PM ID card, a MedAlert pendant and will notify them at security.
Is there a clear consensus as to which is better?
Thx, Lou

Today the electric people knocked on my door and told me that they were putting a smart meter on my house. I told them I did not want one because of my pacemaker and the fact that it is right next to my back door and would be on the other side of my bathroom wall. The guy said too bad I am getting one and I told him I was not authorizing him to do so. He told me I would be arrested if I didnt get one.
I called the public utilities commission, and they told me that a law was passed...

Hi everyone, I am curious if anyone else has had a issue with there pacemaker like I did recently. While using my vacuum cleaner I was holding cord in left hand and handle with right hand, I experienced a shock of some sort. lt felt like pins and needles sticking in me, like a prickly feeling it was on my left side directly under my pacemaker site. That afternoon I noticed some discomfort in my chest and had some issues with atrial tach, and afib/aflutter that afternoon after the shock. I con...

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
