Hey guys first time posting I had my pacemaker implanted 6/23/20 just over 6 weeks ago. I was cleared to start exercising at the 6 week mark. I was rowing like normal and between intervals my heart rate dropped like normal then out of the blue hit 243 BPM for 1:10 long. I have a follow up appointment next week but I am wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before? What should I be asking the Doctor when I see him and the last thing is could this be just a simple setting that coul...

Hi
I am 78, very active ( I run 5-6 km about 3 times a week and go to the gym in the winter).
I feel great and I have a lot of energies for my age.
Last year, though, I had to run to the emergency ward of a local hospital because my heart was racing at 180 bpm at rest, just before starting my usual running session.
But for the cardio watch I wouldn’t have known, because I was feeling perfectly OK.
The cardiologis...

Question to runners...
I have had my PM now for a month and have been doing a lot of walking. The doctor released me after my 2 week check up to be able to run agility with my dog which doesn't involve a lot of running, just some short bits between obstacles. I have also recently tried just running a little during my walks. The problem I am having is the PM moves and hurts. Doe this go away? Is there something I can do to keep it from moving?

Well I decided to try and play golf today even though the heat was terrible.
the last time I tried to play I had to quit on the 13th hold. Today I just made 11 and almost fainted on the 11th tee. When I straightened up from teeing the ball up I had about 15 seconds of pressure build up in my head and my ears stopped up. My playing partners said I was whiter than a sheet of paper. I drove back to the clubhouse and still felt terribly weak. I drank another 16...

Good morning. I can walk a quarter mile with not breathing problem (my legs get tired), but when going up a flight of stairs, I get winded.
Is there that much difference in how much energy used, or is something else going on? - Mike

Hey all,
I wanted to tap into the collective wisdom of the board since my doctors haven't been able to diagnose the issue.
This past spring I developed an issue while exercising (speed walking - 2.8 to 3.0 mph). After going 2.3-3.0 mi, my HR will suddenly drop (less than 30s) to my resting HR (I have a Galaxy Watch, Wahoo arm band, and Polar H10 chest strap). I then become dizzy and feel fatigued; furthermore, I am unable to raise my HR more than 10-20 bpm and am j...

Hi all....any advice most valuable please..?
Had my 3 lead pacemaker tweeked recently to suit my increase in rate response required at higher alpine elevations. This has made a hugh difference to my training plan and I was able to dig deeper when required.
I have been working out real well and snowshoeing through deep snow regularly for long periods.
I have just led a 5 day alpine skiils course that has left me feeling very depleted energy wise and suffering fatigue. ...

I suffered a cardiac arrest a little over a month ago and had an ICD implanted as a result. I am a pretty serious hobbyist bodybuilder/ powerlifter and was wondering what I could expect when I am finally healed up and back at it. I am hoping for reassurance that I can train like normal and still push myself, but I fear that may not be the reality. Any information will be greatly appreciated!
My stats before the surgery:
Bench - 255lbs
Squat - 325lbs
Deadlift...

Can anyone recommend a stylish watch that is NOT an apple watch? I need a man's watch. Something big. I also freedive, scuba dive and spearfishing and would love to be able to get my heartrate during those times too. I would buy more than one watch of course.

Hi everyone! I recently had a pacemaker put in about 4 months ago (I was 23 at the time, now 24). I just got back from my first 40 mile backpacking trip, and wow what a difference my PM made!
Has anyone in this group ever done a thru hike with a pacemaker, and is it even feasible? By thru-hike I mean the AT, PCT, or CDT. It has always been a dream of mine to do the AT and I didn't think it was possible with my PM; but being on the AT for 40 miles made me think about it again.

I'm 60 years old, have a PM for one week, and already getting anxious to be active. I've heard anywhere from 4 weeks to 10 weeks to heal, which seems like quite a huge range. From what I gather from my doctor is that 4 weeks should be enough, but we need to be postive all secure. I'm trying to stay sane by thinking that I'd move slowly in some phased approach. Does it sound OK for cycling (road bike less) at around 4 weeks, running at 6 we...

Okay. So I had my pacemaker implanted when I was 3. It was put in my stomach, and I was not allowed to do sit ups. I'm 20 now and I've had it replaced once when I was 13. It's in my shoulder now.
I've been told since I was 13 that I wasn't allowed to do push ups, or lift weights. And now I'm looking on this page and that isn't true? Can I do push ups safely? I was to be in law enforcement, and doing upper body exercises will help me ach...

To make this as short as I can. I had PSVT ablation. The AV node was partially ablated due to someone not paying attention. I was in a complete block for a few weeks then eventually went back into a 1:1. I ran and exercised without issue prior to this injury and even after with ease. I even completed a half marathon about six months after this ablation without really training for it and had no problems. About a year and a half after the ablation, I started not feeling well my heart was t...

Can I do this kind of exercise? I want to make my body and stamina stronger and bigger but im not sure if this kind of exercise is ok. I had my pacemaker about 1 and half years now and I heard push ups are a no go if its true then its kinda sad. I have my check up next month though so should I just wait for it and ask my doctor directly? I dont have my doctors number so I have to wait next month to see my doctor.

I wonder if someone can advise me please. I am a fit 80 years old and had a successful hip replacement five months ago. I have had my pacemaker for four years now and I’m delighted with it and have had no problems. However, due to the coronavirus and a chest infection after my hip operation my GP said I had to shield indoors for nearly 3 months. I was allowed out for exercise yesterday and was surprised to find I was extremely short of breath after goin...

I want to ask if it ok to get my doctors number? Im hesitant in doing so because the expenses from my pacemaker and surgery came from the governments help so my parents didnt have to pay anything except interogation when in check up schedule. I dont know if its ok for a patient like me to do so. And the hospital where im going to for my doctor is far away like 2 hours transportation and I only commute since my family dont own a car. It would really help me if i can ask through text with my do...
