I wanted to report that now, 6 months post PM and 2 weeks post 2nd Covid vaccine, I feel much better. I've done some 2.5 mile hikes around town, with my pulse staying at about 90. While climbing 500 feet, my pulse did get to 150, but then recovered to 90, as I leveled out. My question is, as I am finishing the hike, my pulse comes down to my set 60bpm with my oxygen at 99% and I feel very tired. Is there a wave to the recovery rate that after you have high pulse numbers, does it...

Hi all,
I am seeking some help on heart rates when walking. I am almost 70 and I have a Boston scientific K185 which was inserted in January 2015. Have complete heart block and AF all the time but asymptomatic. Prior to the BS I had a Medtronic with rate response only. Had that for about 8 years. The Boston Scientific has minute ventilation and an accelerometer and I have found with cycling that the combination works very well and consistently has...

My EP has suggested a good way forward to check what is going on during exercise is a Treadmill test.
I have so much floating around my head at the moment as I am not sure whether I need more pacemaker support during exercise or less. I desperately need to not go off in the wrong direction after this test.
How will they decide if I need more ventricular intervention or less ventricular intervention?

is kayaking okay with a pacemaker? I was never told it wasn't but i have since read it can wear down the leads due to repetitive movement.

Have anyone consulted with a sports cardiologist?
With the passing of my EP cardiologist I don't have anyone adjusting my pm. With on-going struggles with it while running I thought maybe a sports cardiologist might be someone with whom I can consult. I run ultra slow but get out of breath, fatgued and feel chest pressure. Recovery is near instant but the 3 not-my-amigos are repetitive. Post run I can feel this, at times, more intensely. It seems as if the pm is...

Hi all
had a really good conversation with a new EP technician last week and he explained a lot and is very open to changes. He was very patient and let me ask a lot of questions.
I could sense he was busy so I let him go before asking him to explain one point he said that I have since looked up and still struggling to understand.
He said that he could see I was getting my heart rate up nicely and that it "was tracking consistently at 1:1". I know that 1:1 to...

I have been experimenting with a range of heart rate monitors for exercise but struggle to find one that would constantly give readings. I've gobe through Garmin and some unbranded straps, and had no luck with them.
With optical readers I've tried Garmin forerunner 35 and 220, but both work once or twice, and after its pot luck if they record more than few minutes.
I've gone for Polar OH1, which first few times worked perfectly, and then again no reading. That was retu...

Hi, I'm trying to help my brother who has bradycardia and sick sinus syndrome. He is also in a-flutter. He had an ablation for a-fib about 4 years ago and now needs a pacemaker. He is 66 and is an avid cyclist, he goes mountain bking up very steep trails. He wants to keep riding until he absolutle cannot. His doctor has told him he will put in whatever pacemaker he wants. He is considering Biotronik or Boston Scientific. Two of the doctors he has...

I saw this work out on the internet. Seems to me it would be a safe one for pacemaker users. And does anyone know if planking is safe.

Due to all the different surgeries I'll be going through in the next few months, I would rather not be out on the streets running and cycling. Thinking about getting one of these new exercise machines. Anyone has any of the ones I've mentioned? Any thoughts?

Recuperating in the hospital as I write this...got nothing better to do.
So finally the chicken came to roost on the atrial valve side of things. I got a 29 mm Evolut Pro valve today! Doing OK so far but fingers crossed for sure… Already feeling very different… A feeling of warmth throughout my whole body that I have not felt ever before.
The doctor was joking if I could do all these things with pacemaker that has only one lead and...

I find it confusing that some people are told they can play golf after 4 weeks and others 4 months ? With courses set to open again on March 29th here in the UK that would be 2 months for me. I would have thought there would be a set timeframe among most doctors but it seems there isn't. Google doesn't help with some saying 4 weeks and others 3 months + ?

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and I tried to look back through posts to learn more, but I got a little overwhelmed. I'm sorry if this post is repetitive and you are welcome to point me toward other applicable previous posts.
I got my first pacemaker back in August. It is a Medtronic Azure. It was quite a surprise because we have never had any proof of heart issues. My heart was running about 30 beats a minute when it had an eleven second pause before...

Background - recently reaching and staying at 175 bpm or so during very minimal intensity running. Before pacemaker at that heart rate I would have been nearly at my highest intesity of exercise. I have grade 2 heart block.
I spoke the technician today and he said rate response is not on, I was hoping it was on as this would make things more simple.
My question is, if my atria starts to beat at say 150bpm does the software change the amount of time it waits for an intrisic v...

I'm nearly three months in to having my pacemaker (second degree heart block) and started a couch to 5k running programme to ease me back into running.
My maximum heart rate a few months before my pacemaker was 185ish and at this effort I would have been running around 6 minute/mile pace.
Today my pace was almost walking pace running at exactly 10 minute/mile pace and my heart rate shot up very quickly to 165 and then after a mile or so sat at around 175. I was bare...

Hi all
Im wondering if anyone can tell me what upper body exercises to avoid in the gym.
I was paced about 3 weeks ago and am eager to get back to the free weights as well as the machines. BUT im very nervous about ripping out or off my leads or splitting the wires. Pre surgery I was a big gym enthusiast and would do all different types of bench presses shoulder presses peck deck machine lat pull down machine dumbell flies etc etc. All these exercises put strain o...

My resting heart rate is 51 bpm.
While resting, my iWatch will occasionally report a heart rate in the low 40's although my pacemaker minimum threshold is 50! Perhaps that is an ectopic issue, but sometimes it records for periods of up to 10 minutes in the low 40's! That seems difficult to explain as an ectopic issue?
While exercising, my iWatch is fairly accurate (confirmed by chest strap, tre...

Hi folks, I have a question for all of you. Prior to August 2019 and my heart attack, pacemaker was implanted in September 2019. I was a pretty avid hiker. I plan on getting back into it this summer, so my question is about the pack. Do any of you hike with packs, if so, how do you handle the strap over the shoulder? Do you have extra padding over pacemaker site? My cardiologist also said to stay below 10,000 feet because I have two stents. I will not go above 7000 so no worries there. Apprec...

My cardiologist is brilliant and after lots of trial and error got me running. I finished this years London Marathon in 3hrs 38 minutes.
