Trying to figure out if my request is reasonable and can be done safely? Pacemaker was inserted approx 2 years ago, left side close to armpit, shaving and application of deodorant, under bra strap, etc. touches it. Exercise causes my left arm to tingle and fingers go numb, yes it’s also painful, it’s on top of fracture in rib. Asked to have it moved almost from day one. Have been told repeatedly it’s impossible, would involve complete redo? Have tried...

Are the body analysis scale dangerous and interact with the pacemaker?
What kind of analysis scale can you recommend?
best regards
and best pace and peace

I had an ICD fitted 2 1/2 years ago with no interventions in that time.
I have always been an amateur race driver of classic cars and motorcycles but both licence authorities , the MSA and ACU have refused my licence renewal to race due to the ICD even though if I just had a pacemaker I could race
does anyone have experience of this issue . It seems counter intuitive as I can drive / ride on the road with a DVLA licence
thanks

Hi, all, and thanks for this wonderful, informative website. I have had A-fib for 7 years, well controlled for the past 2 years with Flecainide. Having been diagnosed more recently with branch block disease and slow conductivity, I was advised that, since Flecainide, by design, slows the signals down, it was contraindicated with conductivity disease, unless a pacemaker was inserted. I had the procedure done on January 27th, and am now the proud owner of a Medtronic Azure XT DR MRI.<...

Hi, I am a 56 year old male that is a life long runner and cyclist. I am due to have a pacemaker implanted in 3 weeks. The whole saga started about 6 months ago and I have had 3 ablations to successfully treat atrial flutter and AFIB. I have also been diagnosed with sinus node dysfunction, ie slow conduction. I had one black out episode when I transitioned out of AFIB, and was told that this condition would likely get worse even with the AFIB successfully treated. Also have cardiomyopathy, a...

Hi all. New to PMC, very glad to have found this site. 71 yr old male, avid runner, 66 marathons and counting. Some conduction issues (L and R) going back more than a decade, but more recently diagnosed with sinus pause. The PM went in last year, pacing only when HR falls below 50bpm - less than 5%. No issues so far. Somewhat frustrated that cardio team cannot tell me when that pacing occurs - whether it happens during a run, while I'm eating (fainted twice, both times while having breakf...

GOT MY PM OCT 2023 MEDTRONIC AZURE
I AM 69 YEARS OLD AND DO CROSS FIT (SCALED) 3 DAYS PER WEEK. I NOTICE THAT WHEN I DO EXERCISE MY HEART STARTS RACING AND SYMPTOMS RETURN BUT MY HEART RATE JUMPS ONLY TO 88 AND DUE TO THE SYMPTOMES I HAVE TO STOP AND WAIT FOR THE SYMPOTMS TO SUBSIDE. EXERCISING IN COLD WEATHER IS BETTER. I AM NERVOUS FOR WHEN IT GETS HOT BECAUSE EVEN IN A HOT SHOWER I CAN FEEL SYMPTOMS OF A RACING HEART. IWILL SEE EP NEXT WEEK. HE HAS TOLD ME RATE RESPNSE IS...

Saw an entry from many years ago but wondering if any new information. We have a Fountain offshore "cigarette boat" which can go up to 90 mph and sometimes can hit pretty hard. Any advice regarding the safety of still being able to run my boat fast? How long after implant should I wait or is it ever going to be safe?? I will of course wear a pad over my device but what about all that pounding around that's so much fun?
Thanks!

Hi! Im due for a battery replacement this year. Im a runner and in addition to SSS I experience chronotropic incompetence and as a result have had to have a lot of adjustments to the rate responder in my PM. I was advised to look into changing from my St Joe's device to the Boston Scientific Minute Ventilation Sensor becuase apparently it is the preferred PM for runners. Does anyone have experience with one of these devices?
Thank you!

I have an Abbott labs 2 lead PM2272 Pacemaker inserted in Nov 2021. At the time I was experiencing low heartbeats, The oacemaker kept it a base of 70.
Within the past several months I started experiencing panting when I warmed on for tennis. Then I could play for an hour or so without any problems. Then I would get very lightheaded causing me to act somewhat like a zombie. Usually after 1.5 hours I would suddenly get very exhausted. I would complain that my...

I am 70 years old female had a Sorin TEO DR implanted 3 months ago for bradycardio and sick sinus node. I am very active, practice cross country skiing. run. cycle and swim. I'm not sure if I'm having problems with old age or need my pacemaker readjusted. Initially when I restarted exercising the pacemaker would immediately pace me to the maximum 160 bm. While running it would suddenly stop pacing after 5k and I'd have to stop and wait for it to start...

Does running and other high intensity exercise cause heart electrical issues?

As a comparatively unfit male who got his pacemaker as a result of surgical complication, I have been surprised how many runners, cyclists and others whom I would generally consider "fit" are on this forum having had a pacemaker inserted, or told they need one. Do activities that push the heart to high rates end up causing electrical problems? A little Googling suggests that it can:

Hi All,
I am new here and going in tomorrow to meet with an EP for follow up testing and probable PM placement soon after. I have concerns about my running if I elect for PM. The concerns from my GP and Cardiologist are bradycardia (my HR drops below 40 when sleeping) and occasional heart pauses of 3-5 seconds.
When I am running my HR responds instantly to changes in running intensity. I've never had an issue in getting my HR to respond to ru...

As I just received my Metronic PM this past Jan. 20 I am trying to gather all the info I can digest in preparing for Spring. I asked my Cardiologist when I met with him on Jan. 27 for my first checkup. My question was, using a riding mower to cut my grass. I know the motor won't be any issue as it's far enough away ( 2 feet, at least) but I have been reading about the vibration or 'jiggling' over uneven lawn.
My cardio guy said, try it and if there's ...

Hi All,
I'm a 54 y/o male and this is my first post here. I had bradycardia and junctional rhythm for quite some time and in November of 2022, I received my first pacemaker.
Initially, the rate response was set too high where a simple walk w/out any exertion, would jump my heartrate up to over 120 bpm. I then asked to have the rate response turned off which caused the junctional rhythm symptoms to come back and I also felt somewhat winded while walking....

I am a very active 71 year old male with a recent PM implant due to heart block. I am left handed in some activities and right handed in others. PM was implanted in right side due to to potential impact from firearms on left side.
My electro- cardiologist told me not to do pushups or overhead weightlifting due to wear and tear on leads. Any others with similar issues or restrictions?

I have a medtronic pacemaker for complete AV block. Probably caused by Covid. I feel completely fine and walk 8-10 kilometres several days a week. I have difficulty going up stairs. My pacemaker was set to go to 130. They increased it to 150. I feel like it's still not enough. Ideas?
