Hi everyone-
I am so grateful to have found this site. I'm 42 years old and had my PM implanted almost 3 weeks ago. I had two ablations done ten years ago for Wolfe Parkinson's and had been symptoms free (no tachycardia) for that whole time. Then, 3 weeks ago, I was dizzy, EKG showed heart block, heart rate of 3-- PM next day. I'm feeling much better, and go back tomorrow for my follow up, and will ask my doc but after reading some of the posts and comments, I thought you might be be able...

Is a LVAD the same as a CRT-P or Biventricular Pacemaker.
I have been asked by the DVLA whether I have a LVAD ?
if so I have to wait for 6 months until I have my Driving Licence back:(

I had a pacemaker installed on June 20, 2013. I'm still recovering from the surgery and the area around it is still very tender. How long does it take for a full recovery?

I live in the US, but was on vacation in Ireland and had to have a pacemaker put in. The hospital there said I should take it easy for a week or two and then just continue on with my life. All they gave me in the surgery was a local. I did see a cardiologist here just yesterday and he tested the pacemaker and said everything was fine. Now I've been reading some of the comments and it seems I may be doing too much too soon. I am a bit sore. I've had no brusing or bleeding. My wound is almost heal...

Hi,
So I had my pacemaker put in.... a little over 2 months ago. I was told 6 weeks recovery time and at my 6 week appointment I was told I didn't have any more restrictions. I haven't gone out and done anything crazy but, ya know, I've obviously started using my left arm again and stuff. But, I'm really sore. Like, some days I a unbearably sore, to the point where I have to take advil or ibuprofen and ice it. I don't know what I'm doing that is upsetting the area so much and I don't...

Hi,
My father just had a Pacemaker (PM) installed last week. I am new to all of this, looking for some good information/advice. He was doing fine for first 3-4 days, until yesterday, when he had his first bout with an elevated heart rate (170 or so). He was on BP med and post operation anti-biotic. Rushed him back to ER at RWJ in New Brusnswick, NJ, got him stable again, released him the same day. He was having problems with first BP medication, so they now have him on Metoprolol Tart...

Hi. I had my Op a week ago and healing well except when I stand up and walk it feels like I'm walking against a brick wall. My heart feels very laboured and I'm out of breath. Went for 3 miles yesterday and feel seriously unwell today. All along the walk I felt laboured.
Problem is my next appointment is 2 months off. I have spoken to my GP and he will write to the cardiologist.I tried to see the cardiologist and managed to see the technician. he made me aware of various settings and...

I am 66 - always been in good health but since March I've been having dizziness, shortness of breath, couldn't walk 15 feet without stopping to catch my breath. I've had every test known to mankind, doc was messing with my blood pressure meds - nothing worked.
Last Tuesday I asked my husband to take me to the ER - I was literally afraid I wouldn't live through the night. My pulse was 33 and dropped to 24 as the triage nurse was taking my vitals. Within 5 hours I had a temporary pm and by n...

Hi ALL!
I just joined this club. I am a 19 year old male who just got a pacemaker put in on June 13th 2013. The recovery process so far is ok. In pain and very tight. When will it get better? I have been depressed thinking that this means i will die at a young age. :( please someone tell me that isn't true.

Ok maybe these are stupid questions but I"m 9 days post PM implant. I've never suffered from cold feet. But lately my feet are like ice cubes....I never thought that would happen with a PM , I figured my circulation would be better. My energy is amazing however I'm still not allowed to lift my arm so I am limited as to what I can do. It's in the 90's here yet my feet are freezing, there are times that my toes are milky white when usually people tease me about my flip flop tan. Then to make...

Hi
I'm new to this site and thank God I found it. I'm schedule to a have a 3 lead PM/DF implanted next month. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this and finding it a bit scary. But after reading so many of the posts, I find the majority of the members are glad they did it and it improved the quality of their lives. However, I don't like the PM sticking out in the chest with the corners showing. My question to the members is - What are your thoughts on implanting the device below the m...

Hello,
I am scheduled to have a Boston Scientific Ingenio pacer inserted next week. This will be my 3rd pacer. My previous two are medtronic pacers.
I had a long history of atrial fib, had the open heart maze procedure in 2002, and it was a great success, no more atrial fib, but my SA node was damaged during the surgery so I ended up with sick sinus syndrome and needed a pacer.I've also had atrial flutter, SVT.
I'm wondering if anyone has received this pacer and what they...

Hi! I just stumbled across this group, and I am so glad I did. I have been reading a lot of members' posts, and it really gives me some confidence and comfort. I got my first pacemaker 8 days ago. I wonder if anyone can address a feeling I have of being "too" aware of my heartbeat. I can't decide if I truly feel this, or if I am only being paranoid, but my heartbeat feels a little bit "heavier" now, than it used to.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
