Hello! First time to post and just recently joined PM Club. So happy to find this sight. I have had 4 cardiac arrest episodes before I got my PM on 7/24/14. I had open heart surgery on 4/11/14 (one bypass). I've had some problems with PM and have had it adjusted once. Recently my Dr told me my wires in my ventricle are dying. But the good news is my PM is working and I'm alive. Has anyone else been told this? I'm 64.
Thanks

Hi guys. My 4 year old daughter had the pacemaker implanted on June 4,2014 because she was diagnosed with complete heart block 3rd degree. Her left ventricle was the size of a 10 year old. So She has had check ups since then and all were fine. Her teacher recently contacted us with questions to see if everything was ok. They told me she sometimes just go lay down and pass out to sleep and it's hard to wake her. When they do wake her they said she's lost. So I've called her doctor but haven't hea...

I have a slight case of pneumonia and bigger case of bronchitis. While having a coughing attack I got light headed, started shaking and muttering some words, now my pacer has been palpitating. No defib on board. Almost due for my batteries (within the next 8 months). I have had my pacer since 2006 and never felt anything from it. Now it is palpitating like its my actual heart. Something serious?

I am quite upset that. My pacemaker has moved from under the muscle and into the armpit. I will need another op. Apparently a lead extraction may also be needed and they may need to use the other side. So wounds on both sides. I am told lead extraction carries a 1% risk.....is that true? I have youngs kids and am so worried about the surgery.....can anyone calm my nerves with any personal success stories or knowledge?
Gratefully

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone was taking flecainide for their arrhythmia. I am taking 50 mg twice a day and I feel weird sensations in my chest when walking. Is a bit like my rate response kicking in too early and it only happened since I started the drug. I also feel very tired. Just wanted any comments on side effects from others on this drug.
Thanks

Everything I have read online has said that alternators will cause a pacemaker to slow it's pacing until it is removed from the alternator. But is it possible for an alternator to make the pacemaker speed up and stay sped up permanently?!?!

Hi everyone. I'm new on this forum and would appreciate getting to know others who have pacemakers and learning from some of your experiences. I had a pacemaker installed in March of this year. It was sent at 60 bpm. I am exhausted all of the time. Have any of you every heard of someone having their bpm's increased to help with exhaustion? I would appreciate

Hi,
I received my first PM implanted last Tuesday. I have the Medtronic, dual chamber MRI compatible device. I had some complications after surgery and had a lot of inflammation from the leads. I spent two days in the hospital. This past Saturday, I was found to have pericarditis. I spent the weekend in pain but received a new med to go along with my motrin. It has helped quite a bit.
Today, I recieved the news after my echocardiogram that I now have fluid around my heart...

My brother in law just had a pacemaker installed 2 days ago and has muscle twitching. He shakes almost like he's cold, but isn't. They're checking him now, but if it's a lead problem, or placement, how do they fix this?

I received my Medtronic Advisa Pacemaker in April of 2014. since then, there are times the pain is so intense in my left arm and chest rea right above the pacemaker and sharp I cant use my arm. trying to lift anything above my head produces a tugging feeling and feeling as if I am being shocked. we checked the pacemaker, it is working fine, my doc said its just part of the healing process that the lead may have moved and is sitting on a nerve. all I know is OW. it hurts like heck. Would appreciate if any members have had any experience with Cefaly which is a headband used for headaches. After ordering it, I started to wonder if it could hurt my pacemaker. Please respond if you have heard anything.

Hi,
I just had my first PM implanted on Tuesday and have had a lot of inflammation from the leads since surgery. I found out today I now have pericarditis and am in horrible pain. My physician has given me a new medicine to treat it and so I hope to have relief soon. He told me this was pretty rare to happen but was wondering if anyone else experienced this after implantation?
Thanks for any input....

I'm 49 with a 7 year old dual lead medtronic pacemaker. I have had shortness of breath followed by weakness increasingly over the past few years. Doctors told me initially it was anxiety which I knew was "bunk" and then they said acid reflux and when I totally changed my diet to all natural and exercise, I still get it. Even more so lately with more intense working out. The Cardiologist medtronics techs have played with my settings for years. My heart is 100% dependent in the atrium and lately m...

Hi everyone. New to the sight. I received my PM about 2 months ago. My heart and pacing are doing fine I think although I do feel it kick in. Fortunately it only paces 20% of the time so it is not too bothersome. Before receiving PM I didnt realize for a long time what was causing my shortness of breath and several syncopes. The dr thought it was virus related cause it would come and go for about a year maybe longer. I was diagnosed finally in June of this year with 2nd degree heart block. While...

I just recently had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted to help combat atrioventricular heart block which would cause bradycardia and hypotension which then resulted in pain, syncope and cardiogenic shock. Every time my pacemaker paces my ventricle, Vpaces, I feel it and it hurts. It feels like a horse is kicking me in my chest with every pace. I am also still going in and out of heart block and sometimes the pacemaker will pace me and sometimes it does not. Sometimes it paces when it's not suppo...

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
