My grandmother has a St Jude pacer, Merlin at home transmitter. She is in a nursing home, they are telling me we can't set this up, because to many phones lines in the building, even though she has her own phone. Is that true ?

Is there anything out there to prevent solar flares from disrupting our devices? I've wrapped my chest in aluminum foil however I don't know if this works or not. Any solutions? Thanks, Starlight

Hey all,
I am wondering if the geomagnetic storm that is coming in a few days due to the solar flare eruptions on 9/10 and 9/11 will be cause for us to worry?
If it can disturb GPS systems and all I am praying it will not have any affect on PM's or ICD's. ("Geomagnetic storms can temporarily disrupt GPS signals, radio communications and power grids, as well as intensify the beautiful auroral displays known as the northern and southern lights.")
Anyone know anyth...

Hi all I have not been here in a long time, I am not feeling well. About two years ago I received my pacemaker due to Brady Cardia, Last September I had Massive open heart surgery due to a walnut size blood clot in the heart on a lead, while they were in there they repaired my aorta, fixed a merma, found a tumor in one of the chambers. A 4 hour operation lasted 8 hours and 6 hour recovery went to 72 hours in a coma. A six day hospital stay turned into 17 days.
Well it's a year later a...

A brief history of my illness had heart attack 2006 (luckily in Drs surgery!) went through all the usual stages of medication then had to have a by=pass eventually AF so bad put down for a pacemaker Was given a dual lead but within 3 days one lead had come detached, doctors wouldnt reconnect said in case of infection. For those 3 days felt quite a lot better, but since have gone steadily downhill finding life very much of a strain. I admit I feel peeved that the lead wasn't replaced and frien...

Dear all,
I had a dual chamber pace maker fitted a fortnight ago (thank you for all the messages of support beforehand - they made a genuine difference in keeping me calm).
I have two questions that I would be grateful for any comments on.
(1) Over the last 24hours, I've noticed that when I lay on my right hand side I get an occasional 'thud' on the right near the top of my ribs - it doesn't hurt, just like a little thud/ kick from inside. Could this be pacemaker relat...

I've had chronic asthma for 50 years, using Ventoline about 10 times per day on poor days. Play golf twice a week and many other sports without too much problem.
I thought my asthma caused me to breathe badly, but then after fainting on the golf course, the doctors found my heart beat too low and installed a pacemaker. 2 weeks later I can walk about but breathing is laborious, Ventoline helps but not as well as before.
Any one out there with similar conditions? Comments and advice woul...

I have written before about my son's Brugada. Last week he was at a friends house and had one of his spells. It was one of the worst he has ever had and had to be resuscitated. If it haden't been for a nurse who just happened to be there he would not have made it. His PM never went off. After several days in ICU they are sending him to the Mayo Clinic because they feel there is more going on than just the Brugada and can't figure why his PM did not show any activity but checking, it was working....

I have had my PM since May, 2014. Initially I had arm pain that went down to my hand. It seemed to subside, however, it has been back with a vengeance for several weeks. It seems to affect the muscle in the arm. I find myself rubbing my arm frequently. It wakes me up. It comes and goes and seems to move around all through each day.

Hi! I was implanted with a Boston Scientific Ingenio at the end of July. Prior to this my HR was usually in the low â mid 40s with occasional forays into the upper 30âs while waking. My heart would also pause then run tachy (150- 160 range). I also dealt with Chronotropic Incompetence and I fainted a lot. My official diagnosis is tachy-brady sss w/ sinus pauses and CI. I had hoped that all of this would be over once I got implanted, but Iâm still having some problems.

Hi... Just joined the site as I am sitting here in the ER waiting for a room. Had my PM implanted 7 weeks ago and it seems as though one of the "dissolvable" stitches did not dissolve and was sticking out at the end of one side if the surgery site. When I called my cardiac nurse last week she reassured me it would be fine and would dissolve on it's own overtime. Other then minor irrigation when something rubbed against it, no symptoms. Yesterday it started itching and turned red and today there...

When I posted earlier, the mini-shocks were intermittent. Now it is feeling weird with every beat. I had a generator replacement 6/9/2014 - so it is still not that old. Still roams around and has not scarred down. Any suggestions. ER visits are a joke. Thanks.
