Hey guys. I am new here. I received my first pacemaker at 14 years and my second in 2010. So I have had this one for 4 years now. I havent had many complications with it and I hardly use it because it is set for when my heart rate is 30 bpm. The last two days I have felt super weak and some sort of strain (for lack of a better descriptive word) near where my implant is. However, I haven't done anyting to strain it. Any advice? I am sending in a phone check but I don't know the seriousness...

I'm 70, and just under four months with a Medtronic Pacemaker. I''m also into my second year with a Medtronic Mechanical Mitral Valve in my heart. Other than a racing heart and a lot of anxiety, I've been problem free until the wee hours of this morning--when I experienced several short, sharp "needle-like" stabbing pains in or near my heart. After several minutes, I had another such episode.
I also experienced a quick elevation in my anxiety level as a result. After 15 or 20 mi...

I have a question I was wondering if someone could help me get it answered. I have a 90year old. the pacemaker battery is dying. The 90 year old is not a surgical candidate to replace. Current HR 30 and regular, B/P low. Anyone know what to expect? I have been expecting SOB as well as MI sx's, 90 year old is dizzy when sitting or standing. What do you think?

I had annual pacemaker check the other day and asked could my pacemaker be checked out as there appeared to be swelling around it. I was concerned because we are booked on a long haul flight on 10 February to NZ. The doc we saw wanted the specialist who had done original pacemaker op to see it .we had to return to hosp the following day prepared for an op to resite the pacemaker. However the specialist decided not to operate he thinks it just a build up of fluid that is not at the moment infec...

G'day, everyone, I had a 2 lead Biotronic pacemaker with 2 leads implanted in Oct 2013, I had to have my yearly check up with my 2 cardiologist 2 weeks ago, the one who fitted my pacemaker and the other one who put a stent in. Part of the check up was a stress test, which showed up some problems in the heart and the pacemaker read out also showed that I have been having some Atrial Fibrillation events in the last 10 months. that cardiologist put me on Xarelto (a blood thinner) for that problem S...

hi.
am new to this but here goes ,
I had a pacemaker first fitted in 1996 for eleven episodes of nocturnal ventricular standstill , as I had unconsciousness, however I had further unconscious episodes even though I had a pacemaker implanted ( was this justified giving me a pacemaker in the first place ).
Reason I ask is because pacemaker had to be changed in 2006 and now its for complete heart block narrow qrs, I was told by a technician that base rate was set higher than it shou...

I continue to have deep debilitating pain in my left chest9 months after PM surgery. I had an abandoned lead removed but it hasn't affected this pain.
My cardiac surgeons doesn't "hear" me; my cardiologist doesn't "hear" me. I'm thinking is must be a common after-surgery and life-ever-after condition.
This pain is so big it affects my entire left chest - a deep grinding pain. It is not associated with bra-straps as it is there before dressing and after undressing.

Someone posted about having occasional sharp pain which were doubling him/her up. I suffered the same to the point of not wanting to drive.
My cardiac surgeon's nurse diagnosed the problem as an "abandoned" PM lead from bypass surgery.
Apparently only 5% of cardiac surgery patients experience difficulty with this foreign body.
I had it removed under local anesthetic but it normally requires at least sedation.
Instant relief.

Hi Everyone,
I have had a pacemaker since 2000 and am currently on my third one with a year or two still left on the battery. Recently I have been having discomfort in my shoulder where the pm is placed. If I move my arm a certain way it feels as tho the pm or something shifts under my skin (it's hard to explain) and it is very uncomfortable. There is also slight pain similar to muscle aches around the pm but I have experienced this before. The discomfort and movement is somet...

I have had my pacemaker 5 weeks. I have had the device checked twice. I told the technision when i went about the popping I was feeling and I actually felt it while he was checking my device. He said it was the leads and that he switched something and tgat I should no longer feel it...well it is worse. Sometimes it pops so hard I feel like it shocks me. I only have a pacemsker and the nurse told me that I should not feel anything. I also am still really sore and my left arm gets a sharp pa...

Hello all,
My 7 year old daughter just had a pacemaker implanted a week ago. She has started complaining of "stabbing" pains in the tips of her index finger and thumbs on both hands. These pains do not happen at the same time and come and go through the day and night. Has any one else ever experienced this? Is this a common side effect or something I should be concerned about?
Thank you!

Thanks, donr for you information.
Only other thing that has my attention: I walked the ICU's halls for about 45 min a few hours post procedure. I noticed my left hand turning blue, which kinda freaked the ICU nurse. This phenomenon has continued. I contacted the EP Friday---- he stated: "It is likely to be result of reduced blood flow due to the presence of a new lead in a very limited space. As time goes on, new blood vessels will form and there may be less symptoms". Anyone else...

I am wondering if one of my wires has come loose or the device is shorting out. Approximately every minute and a half I get a sharp pain, for a second, in my heart. Then fine for another minute and a half, I have had the device since August of 2010 with no problems at all. I no other symptoms. Has anyone heard of this?
You know you're wired when...
You fondly named your implanted buddy.
