COVID-19 VACCINE

Maybe I am getting ahead of myself here but what are your thoughts on the new Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine?  Would you take it if your health system offered it to you in the next few months?  Would you feel safe to have the vaccine at this early stage in its development ?

Ekg, missing R waves

Hi all again

Posted recently about the possibility of adding a third lead. Got sidetracked and talked about QRS time and missing R waves. Asked to receive a copy of my latest ekg, because I realized I had not actually seen my ekg for perhaps 10 years  (other than momentarily on a hospital screen). The copies came today, but I have no idea what the ekg is telling... I posted pictures of it in the member gallery, if anyone is interested and could perhaps tell my anything about it? Th...

A "Blaze" of hope

My name is Brian. I am a 60 year old active father of 2 and grandfather of 7.  I just had my first pacer installed 2 days ago (Biotronik Edora).  My wife Janice and I have been living in our motorhome for the last year parked next to our son J’s home in Sothern California.  We bought a smaller home in Arizona but are staying here to help with some remodeling at our son Kody’s home.  J’s family includes a small white dog named Blaze (Chihuahua, J...

Battery near my pacemaker

I am a battery "killer" in wrist watches so I recently bought a watch necklace. It occurred to me that maybe I shouldn't wear this necklace with a pacemaker. The chain is long enough that the watch is maybe 6 inches below my pacemaker. What do you think?

Intermittent heart block

Hi! I got a pacemaker for exercise induced 2;1 high grade 2nd degree block. I use to mainly pace if my heart rate went over 100bpm. If I was under 100bpm, I wouldn't pace much. Mostly my own heart working. About a year ago, I started having heart block 2;1 outside of exercise. It would start at a heart rate of 80 then 70 then 60  Now all day. So now I pace 100%. Went from pacing 40% to 100% since implant. Which was almost 2.5 years ago. Is this normal for block to go from intermitten...

Inherited

Hello,

I have a question... Has anyone either had parents or children who have also had electrical issues with their heart? I had a dual-chamber pacemaker implanted in 2014 at 57 years old for bradycardia / 2nd degree heart block and I'm scheduled to get a CTR-P in 13 days, November 19th. The reason I'm asking is because my daughter who is 43 had heart ablation in 2009 and only recently has been having her heart race while sitting and knitting or watching tv so she just spent 30...

27 and bionic!!

Hey everyone I just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Amanda. I have two toddlers that are 2 and 4. I just had my first pacemaker implanted on November 4th, 2020.

It's a dual chamber Boston scientific. I found out I have a relatively rare condition called cardio inhibitory syncope.

I'm thankful for this community as it helped me cope when I got the news I needed a pacemaker. šŸ’—

Heart Function Drop

It's been a while since I last posted. Quick bio: female 63. Never smoked, rarely drink. I have had SOB since before getting my dual-chamber pacemaker (Biotronik) back in 2014. And even after the pacemaer the SOB never really went away. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago on October 13th when after having a cough for well over a year and SOB that has been getting significantly worse I went in to see my cardiologist. He said that my heart function had dropped from 57% last April (18...

Waking up at 4am.

Morning team. Last couple of weeks I've been waking early for no reason, I've just started to check the time when I do and it's always 04:01 or 2.

Wondering if it is something to do with the PM? Any similar experiences.

Thanks, Dan.

Information required

Compared to some of the other pacemaker club members I feel I know very little about my heart condition. Both my pacemakers were emergency surgeries and my conversations with surgeons were done at the end of a hospital bed. My notes on leaving hospital told me I had moderate to severe lvsd, RWMA but although I have asked about my EF I haven’t been told yet. I had an Echocardiogram over 2 weeks ago and I am waiting for the results.

I feel very well now but I am still uncertain...

Positive ANA test

Hi,

I have congenital complete heart block and have been paced since 1998.  I am 39 years old, on my 3rd pacemaker, and lead a very active, healthy lifestyle.  Last week I was diagnosed with Reynaud's Syndrome, and today I found out that the results of my ANA blood test were positive.  My PCP has referred me to a rheumatologist.  The rheumatologist will be in the same large university health system as my EP and cardiologist.

 Are there any other a...

All of a sudden high pulse on husbands pacemaker

Hello,  My husband has a pacemaker which was installed in April 2020.  It has been keeping a constant 60 pulse but just recently has a pulse of 106 even at rest.  He does have a flutter and this is not new.   Also, ever since having this pacemaker installed he has been having periodic chest pains.  He just recently had two more stents put in but still has chest pains.  They go away with nitro. Doctor said chest pain should go way in time??  and gave him...

Pacemakers

My doctor advises on a Biventricular pacemaker.. I have several questions before I decide. I can't find the answers on-line. Maybe someone can answer.

Can I pick my own Biventricular pacemaker company and model.? If no, why not?

How can I be sure I am getting the latest model?

Young People

Hello! I'm Eva and I got my first pacemaker fitted when i was 11, I'm now 22 and have recently had my first replacement surgery. I realised i have never met another person with a pacemaker and I am wondering if there are any other young people on this forum who would like to chat/ exchange stories. Nothing against older people, i'd just love to meet someone around my age who has similar experiences! Bonus points if you live in Scotland :)

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
