Anyone out there have Complete Superior Vena Cava Obstruction due to Pacemaker leads? I'm trying to decide whether to do nothing & live with the symptoms or try Angioplasty + Stent Placement. Any advice would be helpful

Hi everyone - I had a pacemaker implanted in February and an AV node abation in March. This was because I have suffered from Atrial Fibrillation for 20 years and it was getting worse. Admission to A&E every few weeks because my pulse would exceed 250 plus. It was a difficult decision but I felt I could not go on as it was.
All went well and for about 2 months after the pm took over, I felt really well for the first time in ages. At this time...

Hi there,
I am 29 years old and have had my pacemaker in since 2016, I had a condition from when I was three years old that when I laughed too hard or hurt myself (bumping my elbow, etc) I would pass out and my heart would stop, this was only diagnosed beginning of 2016. I am left handed so my implant was put on my right side it is a K187 Boston Pacemaker. I have had one complication where a cluster of blood clots formed last year and I had to be on blood thinners for 6 months, thankful...

My pm discomfort has become more intense in the past five weeks. I've had it for 27 months, the pc and the pain. Today, I'm going to advocate for myself in a "bully" fashion (maybe) They don't believe me, don't want to do anything. Today I'm going to ask for percentages, probably won't get a satisfactory answer but here I go. How many have pain for this long? What is the % of infection? What symptoms accompany infecti...

I had a Biotronik pacemaker implanted on April 18, 2019. 3 weeks later on May 9, 2019 one lead came out and I had to have surgery again. Ever since then I have a terrible, sharp pain in my back behind the pacemaker. I have seen my cardiologist 2 times since then. They say it is not related to my PM but it is so bad I can't sleep. Has anyone else experienced this. I have Bradycardia and sick sinus syndrome. I am 57.

I had a pacemaker implanted on April 30th and they had the original settings on 50-130 bpm with CLS medium. I was feeling a lot of "heart in my throat" feeling and some pressure in the chest when I would bend over like when folding the laundry. At checkup they set the CLS to very low. I was still having what I would describe as "chest congestion with an urge to cough" much like I was getting over a cold but I haven't been sick. Next check up they turned off CLS and set...

The site where I can feel the Pace maker thumps occasionally. At times, it jolts. Is this normal? If you put your palm over it, you can feel it sort of thump. Visually it can be seen through the skin “moving” or “ticking.” Do others experience this?

Hi. I am Retta, 44 from Upstate NY. I have CHF and I have had a defibrillator for 11 years. Last year I had a battery change. All was good. After a year I had pain in shoulder and what can be described as a "zzzzz" feeling up my neck. It comes and goes. Cardiologist says "Dont worry, it looks good". Well then it started literally vibrating in my chest! I found out it was a notification and they could turn off the vibrating. And they did. Now every so often, more of...

First pacemaker insertion in April. Leads came dislodged, had to have them reinserted 10 days later. After that I have a feeling of another beating heart on my right side. I have dual leads. Cardiologist reply is, “interesting “! Anyone else have this feeling?

I was scheduled to have an MRI at my local hospital in preparation for surgergy for avascular necrosis of the shoulder which causes me intense pain spasms 20-30 minutes long up to 4 times a day. I'm basically homebound because of this. I've been working on getting shoulder replacement surgery for 3 years and the surgeon finally ordered an MRI so I could have the surgery. Unfortunately, I had to have a pacemaker implanted 2 weeks ago and the hospital says they won'...

It’s been 8 months since my Pacemaker was implanted after an SVT Ablation period that resulted in Pacemaker insertion. I still haven’t been adjusted to where I am comfortable. I have had adjustments nearly every 2-3 weeks since implant.
I’ve had Pacemaker induced Tachycardia that took awhile to detect because the the switch to prevent it was programmed to on. I was having retrograde beats that set it off. The latest issue is Pacemaker Wenckebach. ...

Yesterday, I took my boxer to training classes for obedience. They wanted to use a shock collar. Because I didn’t want anything that would hurt him, I asked they test it on my right arm first. It goes up to 99 and they tested me with a five. I felt nothing. However since then I’ve been very tired and my pulse has been in the 70 ish range. It is almost always 60 , which is what it is set at. I’ve had my St Jude for over 5 years. Is it possible I caused any damage. Ps. I almos...

Hi everyone - I had an AV node ablation on 28th March, having had the pacemaker implanted prior to this in February. After the AV node was ablated the rate was set to 80 - this I understand is to prevent develpment of Ventricular Tachycardia.
All was going ok - except I was getting a fast rate on increased movement - but this was remedied at my pacemaker 6 week check. One of the sensors was lowered and all was well. The rate was reduced to 70 at this point.

I am 79 y/o & am now totally dependant on Collateral chest veins carrying blood back to my heart, due to Pacemaker Leads completely blocking SVC. My choice is to do nothing & depend on my collaterals, or have SVC By-Pass Surgery. Has anyone been able to successfully live years without a patent SVC, or must I have By- Pass surgery?

I had a PM implanted in 2013
In 2017 I had breast cancer and had radiation and was perscribed aromatase inhibitors.
I am now having new and disturbing ventricle contractions multible times a day (have a ZIO monitor on at the moment and will be sending it in tomorrow)
Its odd that neither my oncologist nor my cardiologist sees a link between the side effects of the inhibitor and heart issues, as I have just googled information from 3 different sites that link the tw...

Hi all
I am 46 and I am 17 days post pacemaker insertion for complete heart block. At 10 days I started with central chest pain, worse on inspiration and my d dimer was raised. My ECG and troponin was normal. My CTPA was negative.
Although the pain is easing, it reoccurs at night when I am led on my R side. The pacemaker is on my L.
I am having a check of the pacemaker on weds to check positioning etc. It feels like something is poking me in the chest on the inside.

I'm not sure where to start..but I apologize for this seeming long.
My echo a few months back was a mess. Atrium not pumping at times..etc etc..
Now was told I have pacemaker syndrome and have had a 45 day monitor on.
I spoke to cardiologist briefly and he had a report of first two weeks with it on. It was brief, he stated he tried to reach my electrophysiologist but that my report has many variations so far. All I wrote was wide complex tachycardias..bundle branch block...

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
