Hello Everyone.
I'm an electrical engineer, ICD implanted, and I occasionally go to transmission high voltage substations, rated 225 kV. I'm posting here to share experiences, to know if someone else works on Power System Grid and usually goes to substations, to higher voltage substations, what experiences you might have. From my personal experience and from litterature, typical electrical fields found in 225 kV substation (arround 6 kV/m) pose no problem to...

There is a worrying article in today's Times (British). It seems that some pacemakers can be hacked and disabled or worse. There is no mention of which manufacturers or models, but the devices involved are market leading and used by the British National Health Service.

Our business uses a Southern Linc radio, we also occasionally use a CB radio. I know that I read somewhere that we cannot use a Hamm radio, but what about the Southern Linc or CB?
Thank you

Hello everyone,
I have got a pacemaker for my heartblock and was wondering if I can wear a bracelet with a magnetic clasp (no other magnets on it) to hold it together (a brilliant idea for bracelets). I think it's probably best to phone up my clinic to double check with them too...😊🙋

Hi Everyone, Can anyone tell me if it is a problem performing a test on a patient who happened to be shocked 3 times while she was having episodes of v tach. The nurse on the the floor wasn't sure if it would be a concern. I have a dual chamber pacer. I was performing an echo on the patient , but had never seen this happen other than someone being cardioverted. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I'm a 41 year old guy who just had a PM implanted 2 days ago, on 11-8-2016. I am an electrician who works around emi's frequently I read somewhere on this forum that a member purchased an emi detector that automatically sounds when you cross the emi threshold. can anyone recommend where, or maybe provide a link to a site that offers such a device? I know where to buy regular emi meters but the idea of the automati...

I had my pacemaker planted four months ago. I am wondering if I can use an electric blanket without a problem. I have checked the Medtronic site and they post electric blankets as "No Known Risk". However I would like the opinions from the great folks on this site. So, please, do you use an electric blanket? Have you had any problems? Any advice? It is getting cold out there and I am needing my warmth!!:)

I have leg problems and think one of these could help. They say not for people with PM's. Also had that said about Tens machine, which after consultation I use with no problem on my lower back. These you put your feet on. Anyone use one or have any info. Company would have to cover themselves.

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since my last post.
I have a Boston Scientific 2 lead pacemaker. I'm on disabilitiy but tried to do the Trial Work Period thing. Was working at Stryker Medical in the surgical decontaimination/reprocessing building for about a month and a half.
Was always feeling drained and started noticing my heart rate changing. I'm paced at 60 but resting heart rate would be in 90-100's while in the building.
Turned in my resignat...

Hello I am new to this club having just had my first pacemaker implanted. One of my interests is metal detecting for gold , I use a Pulse Induction type metal detector which is very good for finding gold in the highly mineralised ground close to my home. Have any other members had experience with the use of metal detectors and their pacemaker?
Mineab the manufacturer wont comment in any way. My pacemaker technitian said that she will check my detector if i bring it to next check up...

As a graphic designer I spend a lot of time in front of my computers. I have a diagnosis of sinus node disfunction. I received a dual chamber pacemaker in September '15, flutter ablation Oct. 15 and PVI in June '16. Lately I have been aware of different sensations/rythym issues after a period of time at the computer. I have stayed away from the computers the past several days and have had no incidents of skipped beats. I know that there is supposedly no link between computers an...

I had my Boston Scientific two lead pacer installed 2 months ago. I've been gradually getting back into regular aerobic training. I still have some trouble with pacing during exercise and hope to get it worked out at my 3 month follow-up appt. My question for the group is have any of you experienced interference from wearing the chest strap for a HRM? I'm talking about the pacemaker not operating correctly. I'm beginning to suspect that my Garmin ches...

I started a new job a few months ago and we had our first fire drill since i have been there yesterday. It was the loudest noise i had ever heard, nothing like other fire alarms and there were strobbing white lights to go along with it. The sound was emerging from all of the lights in stairwells and hallways and of course there were a lot of people talking. On the way down the noise was physically hurting me so much that i was covering my ears and got hit with the doors a few time...

will a plasma cutter affect my pacer? Also I have seen conflicting reports on welding equipment. In addition are all the things that affect pacemakers in a general sense damaged or is the concern that the pacemaker won't work around the equipment but will go back to normal when you are away from the interference..

Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone, hopefully a medical professional, can answer my question. I own a pool service. Pool motors are not typically grounded well. Now and then when the equipment is wet I will get a serious electrical shock. Is this dangerous to my pacemaker and should I be concerned?

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
