Impact exercise and CRT device surgery/ boxing kickboxing martial arts

I am new to this post and new to this lifestyle change. I was a very active US Marine and former professional champion in Muay Thai Kickboxing. I had fought all over the world and trained many UFC champions as a striking coach. This past year I have been suffering the effects of the anthrax the government injected me multiple times with before invading Iraq in 2003/2004. My suffering is in the form of cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure with an EF of 15%. I also have a left bundl...

Working out with a pacemaker

Hi everyone ! Im new to this club and this is my first post. I am 19 years old and have a pacemaker since i was 6. I had a pacemaker change when i was ~14, but still have the original leads, wich are now 14 years old.I started lifting weights when i was 17, with my doctor permission, but i was cautious with chest training. Recently i noticed that when i elevate my arm above my shoulder with a certain angle there is extracardiac stimulation of my chest, basically my pacemaker is stimulating my...

Improved Pacemaker Replacements

I'm on my forth pacemaker and it will need to be replaced in the next two years.  All previous paceamkers had a problem responidng to transients like running uphill.  My current minute ventilation two lead pacemaker will support constant exercise but responds slowly to abrupt demand changes.  In the last five years has anyone solved this generic problem?

Ideally what I'd want is a device that accelerated quickly to increases in breathing rate or G level and ever s...

Training with a pacemaker

I am 65 year old a competitive masters rower, with 2nd degree AV block, had a pacemaker for 5 months. HR max is set at 170, the max I could get to prior to AV block.

The HR max I can get to so far is 156, so it must be physiological not pacemaker limited. The odd thing is that when I do  aerobic limit training 40 mins at HR <145 3 times a week, I am not seeing any improvement in performance over 1 month. Prior to pacemaker I would see clear incremental impro...

Long stretch in swimming

It has been recommended that I get an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) because tests show i have a mutation sometimes associated with  "Brugada syndrome" but not actual Brugada syndrome.

("Brugada syndrome (BrS) is a genetic disorder in which the electrical activity within the heart is abnormal. It increases the risk of abnormal heart rhythms and sudden cardiac death.")

SWIMMING:  I swim in a 25m poo...

Thanks

"Twitching/clicking" in chest with exertion

Hello!  I'm a 67-yr. old female, with a Boston Scientific Accolade L301 PM (got it in June 2018), implanted on my right side (first PM was a St. Jude Zephyr DR #5820, implanted in Aug 2011, diagnosis: bradycardia/sick sinus syndrome).  I've been feeling what I'll call "twitching or clicking" in my chest, left side, primarily during execise/exertion.  Example: felt it during most of my morning 2.5-mile walk today, on hilly terrain.  Doesn't hurt, b...

too much water and the ACCOLADE

First, sports are out for me.  I'm walking for about an hour and eating lot's of citrus  This is all I can do.

I take 2mg of BUMEX now.  Doctors prescribe meds as if we're machines...

I'm learning (today, for the first time,) that small changes can actually work.  The thing is, I'm 72.

Also, anyone familiar with the ACCOLADE?  Lot's of questions.

Strength Training, Yoga, and Lead Safety

I'm past 6 weeks after surgery, though still new to all this. Just turned 40, otherwise mostly healthy, and I don't want to get too out of shape. Wondering if anyone knows of a comprehensive reference for what's reasonably safe activity to do?

My doc said cardio is great but warned me that I have a complex system, 3 leads, and I should not do too much with the left arm. Said he had a patient who wore out a lead by doing a lot of upper body workouts. Some forum members here f...

Changing the settings

I have a crt-d and the doctor will not change the range of pacing. I walk 5 miles, for exercise, 5 times a week. On mile 3, I have a what I call a “spell”. The device starts to stimulate and causes me to feel dizzy and weak. It feels like the device is slowing the heart down and I lose my walking rhythm.

Lower rate: 50

Upper Tracking rate: 130

Upper Activity rate: 120

I have learned that to find the upper activity rate that is right for me is 175...

Ever swim again?

I had 2 pacemaker surgeries  within 3 weeks due to a lead becoming unattached.  I was told by the doctor’s staff to stay out of the pool for 8 weeks.  They then said I could get into the pool but no swimming because the arm can’t be raised over my shoulder level.  Will I ever be able to swim again?  Slow paced laps not racing.

GREAT NEWS!!!

Sports Medicine Doc flipped me this way, that way, twisted me here and there, turned me upside down, pulled here, there, smiled as I was frowning and almost weeping and said: "You're gonna forget all about your pacemaker --- It's time to learn all about the hamstring, and how to treat it!" --ARRRGGGGGH!

Cardiac rehabilitation & exercise stress testing to optimize rate adaptation

I had a state of the art Biotronik Eluna 8 DR-T (dual chamber) implanted last year after my 2nd degree AV block type II (Mobitz) got progressively worse over a period of years of living with it. It usually manifested as exercise induced spontaneous bradycardia with accompanying arrhythmia that would be triggered when I reached a specific HR threshold.

I had the PM programming set initially the day after surgery, and re-programmed twice since then all in an effort to optimize the pacing,...
