Aloha, all!
I was wondering if anyone has found data on incidence of lead fracture for pacemaker recipeints who row. I just had a pacemaker implanted a week ago (subclavian placement) and my EP indicated returning to rowing would not be a problem. However, it seems like many professionals recommend against rowing.
I am a single sculler, and a typical practice schedule for me is 25k-30k, 6 days a week. I love rowing and hate the thought or reducing training volume...

i got my PM 5 years ago at age of 46 for slow heart rate. I’m a runner and have had the rate responder adjusted three times because about 8 mos after an adjustment I begin to feel gassed out during my workouts. Last week the tech told me she adjusted the rate responder to its max setting. I am still feeling winded during slight exertions. Anyone else experienced similar condition? Also, read a posting about thumping the PM to make the accelerometer more responsive during workouts....

Hi everyone! I'm approaching two years with my medtronic and I just wanted to know if you've had any trouble with the following and if you'd advise against it:
-Push-ups
-Rowing maching
-Paddling out/surfing
I have my 6 month check up approaching soon but I just wanted to see what your experiences were until I see my doc. I'm just worried about repetitive movements and anything involving my chest muscles. My PM is underneath my left chest muscle. Thank...

Right had the dread the EP study carried out few days back and almost made full recovery. Yep it took over three months to make it happened, we love our NHS, lol.
The study was not dissimilar to described by Czechmate, yes my heart was tested to limits, it went off to the races...

Greetings Fellow Pacers,
I am intetested in learning more about: length of time sustained, and heart rate achieved when activating the accelerometer while cycling. The accelerometer seems to really work when manually tapped in advance of a cycling effort such a climbing a steep hill. Does the accelerometer cause the HR to reach the upper limit (140bpm in my case) but how long will it last until reverting back to the base rate (60bpm) while climbing longer and steeper hills?&...

So I have Pacer for bradycardia setting are set at 60/165 now when I was exercising before I got my hr max to 148 t fairly quickly according to my rythm+ heart rate band and in the middle of my walk it did not get a reading at all then when I stopped and started slowly walking it was reading my hr was in the low 50s and low 60s I think I got worried a little.
I also have a question on pacing with a Pacer and exercise do they make your heart rate go up quicker then if your natural...

Pacemaker assurity mri model2272 installed on June 10th after a cardiac ablation on 85 yr old male.. My problem is trying to understand why the pacemaker, set at 80bpm doesn't keep my heart rate at that pace after I exercise and my heart rate falls to the 50's and stays there. I still have PVC's a after having the ablation. need someone to tell me what is going on?
Thank you from an old marine

Hi all. I am a 63 year old woman 2 years in with my pacer and all is great and I hike, bike, gym workouts, etc. But until now I haven't been swimming. First of all I'm in Pittsburgh and outdoor swimming is best in the summer and no indoor pools close by, secondly it was suggested that some strokes should not be considered due to pull on and potential breaking of the leads. It was stated that particularly breast and butterfly strokes could be harmful but freesty...

Working out with my pacemaker set to higher HR

My cardiologist just approved to increase my max HR from 130 to 150 so I could exercise at a higher level. Before they set it my HR monitor while i worked out would show 125 max and I'd be hitting a wall. Last week they set it to 150 and I've been to the gym 4x since and my HR still shows me hovering at 125. Should I let my doctor know that their change did nothing or does my pacemaker and heart have to adjust? Anyone have advice on this? thanks!

I have a one lead pacemaker for afib and AV node ablation. I am 100% paced. I was wondering if could use the Garmin watch to check heart rate when I exercise. Does anyone know if the watch will interfere with my pacemaker?

Thank you again for the great information Ar-vin. I hope you see this message. I’m not certain if the only way we can comment on info given is by PM? It was reassuring to hear your experience. I’m probably much older than you but I feel even if it takes me longer than 6 weeks to get back to pre pm exercise, at least I will be able to do it. You’re note was very encouraging in a week where I’ve been discouraged. Muchísimas gracias!

Hi there,
i know there is a lot of posts on this topic already on here, with very reassuring answers. I was fitted with my device 7 years ago at the age of 40, in sunny Spain. I have weight trained and exercised for the last 25 years so I was devestated when the doctor told me I could no longer do weights. His reason was the constant repetitions would damage the cables. At first he was non negotiable however after a year he said I could do some curls. Fortunately I found this...

Hello guys...I am a newbie and a (rather) sprightly 81 yr old and I have a peculiar question for all good enough to answer.
I had a PM installed some 8 weeks ago and so far so good. Now the question: is it allright to split wood for your chimney? I play golf with no problem.
Well, I am happy to be with you all

I am new to this excellent and very informative forum and would apprciate any help that is available. I am 60 years old and received my pacemaker roughly 8 weeks ago after having an ablation which went south and caused me to have bradycardia. Prior to that I was extremely active on a daily basis, doing a wide variety of sports and exercises such as crossfit. While I'm certain I will have more issues to deal with in the future, presently I would like to know if there are exercises which I...

I cycle raced from 10 to my early 60s with some wins and many races that I have learned made life worth living. In 2005 I had a dual chamber Medtronic inserted and continued to cycle with others. This pacemaker was replaced in 2012 with a dual chamber Boston Scientific. This developed 'noises' in the summer of 2015 and my EF had droped below 35 which qualified me for a CRT . By 'lucky dip' I got a Boston Scientific CRT-D. This was when my exercise toler...
