Hey All,
I am 37y/o female who has congenital 3rd degree heart block. Dx in utero. My mother has lupus and that’s why I have heart block. I have no structure or “pumping” EF problems. I rec’d my pacer at the age of 18 so I would not go below 40Bpm while sleeping. Pacer was on demand only (VVI) meaning it would be used if I hit 39. I’ve never passed out, dizziness etc. I’m very active run 2miles 3 days a week etc. I have had my device upgraded tw...

Hi. I had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted 4 months ago after a total heart block which happened during Open Heart Surgery. Then, during the Implant Surgery, I developed some atrial fribrillation which I was treated for and seems to be under control at this point.
Shortly after my implant surgery, I felt "pinching" next to my left armpit near the pacemaker when I leaned forward. It felt like wires pinching me. I told my doctor, but after a few...

What is the average time it takes before the leads, that are screwed into the heart, form scare tissue and heal. I am an avid billiards player and I’m concern that my bridge hand is on the same side as my pacemaker. With that extended stretching forward and above or at shoulder height might be too much on the leads???

I live in East Europe, and my doctors are considering changing my leads of almost 7 years. There is a chance that my leads had some production problems and there is a good chance that they may malfunction at some point
My doctors do not want to take that chance as my icd has fired and saved my life a couple of times in the past
Although my doctors repeatedly told me that leaving the exsisting leads inside my body will not cause major risks, ...

Hi all,
I'm new on here and relatively new to the pacemaker deal. I just have a couple questions and I wanted some opinions. I just had my pacemaker placed this year at the end of July, and I guess there was something wrong with where the lead(s) were placed or they have moved and so I have an appointment coming up to go in and move or replace them. I was just wondering what the recovery was for this type of thing. I know the recovery after getting the actual pacemaker, a...

This is my 3rd defibrillator. This one was implanted 2016. It is still very uncomfortable. I can fill the wires just under the skin. Everything has checked out ok. I saw my former doctors in Oklahoma and was told that the generator might need to be reset or the pocket sewn up more. Any thoughts? It was implanted in Alabama .

Hello, I have a dual chamber pacemaker for a type two av heartblock. It has been working well for the better part of 9 years. Until recently. Last year after one of my tracings the doctor called and said I needed to come in because one of the leads wasn't working correctly. To sum it up he found out that scar tissue had built up around the lead causing it not to work so he bypassed that lead. Fast forward to last week I did another tracing and was called in again. Sure enough my second le...

I got my first PM in March if 2011. Two weeks ago I got a new generator. Which I think is a new unit. Today I got a call from the manufacturer to get set up for remote monitoring. A few hours later I got a call from my cardiologist’s office telling me I had to come in ASAP because my device was burning through it’s battery like crazy. Today’s transmission shows the current battery life to be just 4 years! What could cause it to be using so much of...

Hello all.
I wanted to pass along what I think is very important information to consider when getting a pacemaker. Apparently the primary way doctors attach leads for dual chamber pacemakers and/or ICDs can, in some patients, cause mitral prolapse or mitral regurgitation. This is significant because if you’re one of them, you will begin exhibiting signs of heart failure.
i began researching this because over the past two weeks my breath has diminished and seems to...

had a great Doctor Garvey at St Vincent Portland OR. burn out the two leads and set in two new ones, I feel great and have to see him in another week at the incision, Took 3 hours hardly any scar tissue around the leads and was in for 8 years. using a restraining belt to keep left arm to be raised about the shoulder so electrodes can build scar tissue to build up around them. He used the old 2 year device which has over 8 years of battery life and it operates great, no more dizziness from lay...

4 days post op. Chest sore but improving. Noticing tugging sensation, pulling sensation under the left clavicle. Can feel wire under the skin both under the clavicle and under the clavicle superiorly. I assume this is normal routing. Almost feels like someone has their finger on my neck or throat to a certain extent. Not sure if this is normal or something that you get used to. Any thoughts appreciated thanks

Has anyone had their lead inserted via surgery?

Last month I fell twice within an 18 hour period and went to the ER. The doctor ordered an EKG and found that, during it, my heart had stopped beating for five seconds (because I had twitched). He called the pacemaker rep who came and checked the device which worked perfectly, but at the insistence of the ER physician, retested and had me move my left arm and found, as the EKG had shown a five-second stoppage.
The problem was a loose wire, and it had been...
