most recent update and new medication for HF

Hello co pacers

So I had my 6 months check (after having had a severe cardiomyopathy dilated left ventricule diagnosed in November 2020, and became the CRT-D recepient in Feb 2021)

I was very pleased with my last check in June, and was rather optimistic about the outcome of this one. But after the echography, they told me my ejection fraction was "stable" at 40%. Bummer... I was hoping for a 55, or maybe even 60% after 6 months. The doctor said I should not take into acc...

ICD Settings

Hi All,

New here. Got my ICD 3 days ago. Not sure if this is the place to ask about ICD settings, sorry if not. I've got myself a dual chamber Abbott Gallant DR and sometimes I feel a short electrical pulse in one of the leads. It doesn't hurt, it just sort of feel like a very slight vibration. Is that normal to feel ?

Here's my settings-

Several questions about settings and behavior of new Biotronik Edora 6 DR-T

Hi everyone, my first post!  I had a Biotronik Edora 6 DR-T implanted about a week ago for sick sinus syndrome, and would appreciate any information or advice on the following.

*    Can this device be causing PVCs or possibly bouts of tachycardia? Or may I be mistaking the PM's activities for these? Over the first few days, I had a lot of what felt like PVCs, sometimes for runs of 5-15 beats, though this calmed down in the next few days. I've had PV...

Pacemaker pacing percentage

I got my pacemaker August 4th and two weeks ago was told that I am pacing at 97%, before that in August it was 94.4%.  My heartrate is set at 60 for the lowest heartrate and I rarely went into the 50's before the pacemaker.  Why am I pacing so much?  Even the person who checked my pacemaker couldn't explain why.  Any ideas?  We called Medtronics but didn't get a plausible explanation.

Medtronic MyCareLink Mobile App?

Hello all,

Just reaching out to anyone specifically using a Medtronic PM that might be either using the MyCareLink Heart mobile app (Android or Apple devices) or perhaps the at-home monitoring device known as the MyCareLink Relay Home Communicator.

When I was in the hospital after my PM surgery, I tried downloading the app and was having issues (I work in IT, therefor was running a beta version of iOS, which wasn't compatable with the Medtronic app) so I opted for the at-home...

How about a little GOOD news!

There was a time when I was the most doubtful of pacemaker recipients--did I need it, was it going to do anything, did it make matters worse?? My opinion began to change when I was able to try a beta blocker once again, with the pacemaker there to help keep my heart rate from tanking. I started to feel better. After my first interrogation, my doctor was not happy with the extent to which my a-fib was controlled, so increased the beta blocker--again, thank you, pacemaker! I got a call jus...

Still learning

This month I had a remote reading successfully sent to my doctors' office. I get a copy of that in my medical test results, but that is all, just a copy of the same thing that they see. Not being a medical professional, I can't make sense of much of it. I'm wondering if any of you have had someone go over the information with you at first to explain what each reading means. I guess it is not really necessary that I know everything, as long as I see "normally functioning pacem...

Elevated RV capture

I was in the hospital for heart failure. I have a duel chamber pacemaker that was adjusted by the rep while I was in the hospital. Elevated RV capture changed to unipolar capture threshold of 1.8v@0.5 ms, Anyone know what that means?

First year Check up

Hi All,

It has been just over a year since my dual chamber Medtronic PM was implanted for AV block 2:1.

I have some ups & downs (some off which I have queried on the forum, big thanks to Frank P for sharing his settings information)

Next week I have my first yearly check up for the device, it will take place at the hospital where it was implanted.

I am a young (ish) 39 and very much into the outdoors, activities such as cycle touring, trekking & climbing....

Pacemaker adjustment

Hi new to pm club and have a Boston Scientific  bi vent pm. Went to see my cardiologist today and he had a Boston Scientific rep there to use the machine for making adjustment. She explained everything to me what this means what this does. Really helpful and very helpful. She would tell the doctor the machine suggests this adjustment and he would approve. It's so hard going through this but with a great team so much better I'm so blessed.

Technician adjustment

My wife is 74 and had a new pacemaker/defibulator installed two months ago.

With the new device she was energetic, hungry, and not wheezy.

She went for her first checkup after the operation and now she is pre operation mode again. No energy and not hungry.

I suspect the tech reset something wrong. My wife is not proactive about her situation. Therefore I cannot contact the doctor directly.

I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts or stories.

Micra AV Self programming

Has anyone tried to obtain a programmer for Micra AV? After chatting with medtronic, it doesn't seem possible to do so with them. I've looked/looking into other avenues. I spent quite sometime reading all the Micra AV technical manuals, and my doctor/medtronic rep didn't really work with me as expected. It's not necessarily their fault. But with something like the Micra AV, I feel it is better to program it yourself if you are technical enough to do so.

I even...

Heart rate

I am an 80 year old man.  I had 3rd degree heart block and got a dual biotronic pace maker and AV node ablation on June 21 and June 22.  I'm doing just fine. My EP DOC set my heart rate at 80....I guess I should have asked why it was set at 80.  He told me after my first check he will put it down to 70 and eventually at 60.  I didn't ask the reason...has anyone else had this.

Pacemaker Thump After Adjustments

I had to go in to the Device Clinic 3 weeks ago to have some adjustments made to try to extend battery life due to some problems with a lead. The goal is to extend battery life a little longer and then do new pacemaker all at the same time. Since those adjustments were made, I'm feeling a thump from the pacemaker every evening about 8:30. I'm usually sitting on my back porch reading or watching Netflix at this time and since my house is so quiet and I'm being still, I can clearly...

Uk patients check-ups?

Hi there,

I have been having (remote) checkups yearly since implantation in 2012 but my last 2 were each after 6 months and after that last one I've had a letter asking me to attend an appointment next week (rather than the usual 'satisfactory results' letter).

So I'm wondering if it's normal to have appointments that are more often due to my age (I'm now 60) or because my batteries are nearing replacement time? I'm just hoping it's n...

Pacemaker Interrogation

Hi All,

Quick question.  I had my first check up one week after PM implantation and all is fine but they scheduled interrogation 3 months later.  Is 3 months too long to wait?  Is there an optimal time to have your first interrogation?

Thank you.

Dental appointment messing up my pacemaker settings

Had P/M implant Oct 23 2020. Had many adjustments until finally felt better. Read on a post from Pacemaker club that railing the heart rate would help to outpace an arrhythmines. It worked and I was feeling good until Imwent to my dentist for a routine cleaning! Full mouth X-rays were taken and I was assured there would be no problems. A day after appointmentI began  to have the same feelings I had  before rate was increased. Checked with my dr and nurse checked on the devise m...

remote transmission

On June 14,2021 received an email  from Medtronic saying successful remote transmission. (Pacemaker implanted Aug. 19,2019). I waited a couple of days then called the Heart  Center asking for a copy of the summary page.  Said they would put it up front  at the check in and i could pick it up.  Then the tech say was noticed that i had a couple of nites(10pm) where the beat was fast 150, 148-170 for 20 minutes.  Said she sent it to the EP(in the same office) and hi...

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
