Nervous Scare

New here. 63 yo, married 35+ years.

Got woken up at 3am Saturday.   Wife was having some issues. We were having some coffee and my heart starting skipping beats.

Defintily freaked me out a bit.   I'm less than a month out of surgery for a CRT-P.  3rd degree block

Ended up calling the on/call, pushed the data.  They didn't see any event.  I guess it wasn't significant enough to tr...

Pacer Safe Mode

I just had my biannual pacer checked and asked the tech a question about my upcoming thyroid removal surgery.  The tech told me since my pacemaker is close to where the surgeon will be using an electronic knife to remove my thyroid gland they will put a donut magnet over my pacemaker to speed my heart up since I have 3rd degree heart block.  The reason given is the pulse knife could interfere with my pacemaker and the magnet will be place my pacer putting it in safe mode during surg...

Conduction system pacing

I had a follow up with my EP today to let her know I decided I will be having my lead extraction (4 leads) and new generator as well as two new leads placed  in Los Angeles (Cedar Sinai) by a cardiac surgeon opposed to with her and her team locally.

she highly recommended that I ask that the cardiac surgeon for left bundle pacemaker (conduction system pacing)

she said that's all she does now and if he can't do it hopefully he can bring an EP in that can. She sa...

Medical alert systems with cell call capability.

My sister and I, in different locations, both each recently got pacemakers.  Both live alone, in our 70s, considering getting medical alert systems.  I researched  and found they are all safe with pacemakers, but only seem to consider home-based systems that have pendant that connects to base to home phone via bluetooth.  Since we both are still active and get out, we were considering the on-the-go models that have built-in cell call capability with GPS and and fall-detect...

My pacemaker is shifting around suddenly

Hi, I'm new here. I found this forum looking for help with a problem I'm having, thanks so much for allowing me to join. Looking around, I can see lots of things that would be helpful, and I also hope to contribute whatever I can to help others.
About 6 weeks ago, I noticed my pacemaker turning onto it's side.... I could see and feel it sticking up.... as soon as I gently placed my hand over it, it laid back down in place. Over the next few weeks I noticed it slipping out of...

No shortness of breath, Why?

6 weeks ago I got my 5th dual chamber Medtronic pm. I also had my ventricle lead extracted and replaced. Since having pm's I have always been short of breath after going up a flight of stairs. But since getting this new pm and new lead, I can climb stairs and not be out of breath at the top. I asked the Medtronic tech and she said it was probably the newer (better) lead. My cardiologist, he's also an EP, says he has no idea. My settings are the same as they were with my former pm...

Fibrillation/impulse under scar

Hello, hope you are all fine.
I am having an issue with my pacemaker. Its a dual lead and i feel many times throughout the day fibrillations or impulses as you may call it right under the scar that last for about a minute. Touching my chest i realized the leads go under the scar and i can feel them with my fingers. Electrophysiologist told me the PM is in perfect condition and parameters are correct and stimulation is perfect. I had the PM implante...

3 Years Pacing and All is Well

It's been a while since I've even been on the forum which says a lot about how little the PM has affected my life the past couple of years.  Had some initial difficulties with rate response on my Biotronic Edora.  It was eventually turned off and I have had no issues since.  I forget that I even have the PM.  Just wanted to thank everyone here for the good advice in year 1 and encourage others to keep advocating for yourselves.  This forum is a great resource!...

Taps on :41 of every hour

HI Everyone,

I am new here, though I have had a Boston Scientific Pacemaker with a Lattitude since July 8th, 2020.  It was inserted for an A/V block and I am 100% paced.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I am experiencing.  From July of 2020 until November of 2023, I had no issues with my pacemaker.  Then, immediately after my appointment and a slight adjustment in November of 2023, I started feeling little taps from the pacemaker.  Strange thi...

Misc updates

Firstly....I continue to be grateful as I celebrated my 8- year 'rebirthday' following a SCA.

I've also been plagued with 4 events since April with aflutter and atrial tach episodes with HR in the low to mid 250s, lasting 10-12 hrs and then 1-2 hr periods for up to 3 days.  I've been instructed to go to the ER, even if I convert on my own.  My EP is almost 3 hrs away, so that would mean going to a local ER and getting transferred to t...

Rate Response Settings are?

Hello,

I have a Medtronic Azure S DR MRI dual-lead pacemaker.

Rate Response was recently turned on, and I understand in general how it works.  Movement triggers it, it will likely have to be tweaked some more, etc.

What I'm trying to get an understanding of is - can these things below each be adjusted individually (by my EP of course)?  And if so, by how much?

  1. Sensitivity - how much movement it takes to trigger rate/pacing up?  Settings are L, M...

Beyond the Moon!

After a long discussion with my Cardiologit at my 12 week check-up, we agreed to get a follow-up Echo this month to see if any progress was being made towards an improved EF and to check my lipids to see how they responded now that I've been off the Beta Blocker for about 10 weeks.  Quick recap, I ended up with a Conduction System Pacing set-up on May 1 in that the original plan for a bi-ventricular PM was derailed during the procedure when they discovered a Persistant Left-side...

How did you find out you had a problem?

So this one is out of sheer curiosity...

I frequently read about people who have had heart attacks with no prior warning - in fact a friend of my wife has just lost her husband in that way.

But I'm beginning to understand that there are symptoms but we are either ignoring them or are too stupid to do anything about it - and guess which heading I came under??

There was literally just one tiny thing that almost didn't happen that made me think I ought to go and see a d...

Induction hob

So I'm new to the world of PMs and while I have seen all the dire warnings about all sorts of electrical equipment and so on, which I suspect would cause most people to stay in bed!

I'm prepared to take most of it with the pinch of salt as long as I'm not being stupid but the one thing I do have a question about, mainly because my wife can't cook!!, is induction hobs.

I'm aware that the advice says to stay at least two feet away - over 6 feet tall so hopefully...
