First I wanted to welcome all the people who have just recently joined. I hope you enjoy this club as much as I have.
I know I have been lacking my participation on the club lately and I thought it was high time for me to give y'all a good update. I have gradually been regaining my strength after they turned off the ventricle pacing I have felt much better. I still have some problems but it's all managable.
I am in the process of getting ready to move back to Chicago area....

Just a bit of good news I heard....a search and rescue dog received a pacemaker, and she is doing very good after her surgery!! I hope to locate a picture of her. Hers is for heart block. Aren't these "little friends" just wonderful? My pacemaker is my best friend.

Hi Im 24 years old and work part time as an emt on the ambulance and part time as a cashier at walmart. I had seen where someone had mentioned the Polar heart rate monitor and want to ask if anyone knows of any problems the "uncoded" monitors would have with pacemakers. I have looked on the Polar site but found no mention of pacers.
Thanks,
Pete

I am new to the PM site, just 12 days since install.
I read a post this morning that had so many abbrevations that I couldn't understand it.
For example:
EP
AF
PVC, which I don't think is poly vinyl chloride
INR
TACHY
BRADY
POTS
SVT'
CIVU
NCS
EF, just to name a few
Would it be possible to get an abbreviation list/definitions maybe in the 'Information" section under FAQs or maybe its seperate tab?

Hi, Blake and other members.
I was just thinking...I know later this year that there will be some improvements made to the fuctionality of the site per the spring issue of The Pulse (chat room, photo gallery, private messages, list of abbreviations/terms and what they mean etc.)
Is it also possible to place links to the PM brands' websites? (Like St. Jude, Medtronic, Sorin Group, etc.) I am not sure if this is possible or if there are legal issues involved or not. I kno...

Reading some of the responses this morning; it was mentioned about how anxiety can cause some of the same sensations and symptoms as what some people believe they're PMs are doing.
Frank, you are so right on! Had to say that. Keep putting your two cents in because you make alot of sense.
My husband uses this particular analogy all the time, so I thought it would be germane to share it: You take your car in for a tune up. You have it worked on. Then when you get it back a...

Hi!,
In the past you have been a great help. Thank you. I hope you can help me again. I had my pacemaker implanted in 2004, and I have third degree heart block. I just came home from the hospital with what my doctor says is "pacemaker ventricular tachycardia." I have had this before, my settings have been changed, but I continue to have this problem. My doctor seems unsure of what to do next. My question: Is this condition serious? Could I die from it? What do you think I could do about it...

So far my recovery has gone well. I am still more sore then I expected but it is getting better. I have my follow-up appointment tomorrow with my EP and had a few questions. I have not been able to lay down and go to sleep since I got my PM. I have searched and read all of the posts about this problem with others so I was wondering what exactly is the feature called that I should talk to my EP about? Also, pre-PM I was running in the mid 20's at night. What range should the doc put me at for sle...

Silly question time:
I know that a regular microwave oven is fine for PMs but if it's an Inverter Microwave is it safe too?
We bought one before all this PM stuff happened and apparently I told Hubby that the Inverter Microwave couldn't be used d/t my PM.
My memory has been affected by the surgeries, maybe stress and I just don't recall what/why I thought it couldn't be used.
Does anyone have an answer to this silly question? Tx.

Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering if..going to a live band that plays very loud music can affect your Pm & Heart? My son plays in a band & I do like to go & listen to him I also like to hear others play. Last night I went to hear a band and after awhile...it seemed like I could feel every beat in my Pm...Is this possible? I sure hope not.

A number of people have expressed classic symptoms of depression on this board, either directly or indirectly. Read the FAQ section. There is a blurb about "depression" and "anxiety"; they both go hand in hand with having heart problems. All of us "oldies" on this site should make a point of stressing these facts to the newbies! Us "oldies" know, if we're honest with ourselves; we are stepping stones for all the newbies.
I fought acknowledging that I suffered from these problems becau...

Hi All
I am still quite new to this. I have found some of the topics really interesting, I wish I had found this site sooner.
The only support my family has received is from the patient support group STARS (Syncope Trust And Reflex Anoxic Seizure) they are a charity who support suffers with blackouts, has any body see their site www.stars.org.uk they have been fantastic.
Has anybody had genetic testing, my family are just going through this now as my daughter...

I rode the roller coasters! ;D I asked the NP & she said she didn't see why I couldn't.
I do have a question though~
I had my pm placed early march of this year & am 36yo. 2 years ago I rode the rollercoasters & after everyone I felt really light-headed & couldn't ride them w/o feeling oozie.... Prior to PM do you think my heart could have been the reason I felt bad way back then? I haven't had dx heart probs then... just the PVC's that were 'harmless'.
